I’m supposed to be the Alpha's mate. Screw that.
Since I was born, I was destined to be one thing—the Alpha’s Mate. It should be every girl’s dream. Not mine, though. He’s too dark and damaged, and I’ve got a secret he can never know: I’m not a true wolf.
Instead of waiting for him to figure out I’m an abomination, I left on my fifteenth birthday. But I didn’t go far. No way in hell would I let fate drive me from the town I love.
Ten years later, I’m still hiding in plain sight. When I occasionally see him on the street—deadly, sexy, powerful--I just walk by. Keep my head down.
Until that night. Wrong place, wrong time, and suddenly I’m accused of murdering someone from my old pack. And he’s there. Blaming me. I’ve got one chance to prove my innocence and find the real killer, or I'm dead by shifter law.
Fortunately, the Alpha doesn't recognize me because I'm no longer the same ugly duckling. He senses I'm special though, and he won’t stop until he figures out the truth. But when he does, I’ll be in danger from more than just the murderer.
Also in this series: Wild Hunt

Darkest Moon is book one in the Shadow Guild: Wolf Queen series by Lindey Hall. I picked this one up on Kindle Unlimited.
Reading other reviews it looks like we meet Eve in another Shadow Guild series. It’s a big World with multiple series. This is my first taste into the Shadow Guild Universe.
Eve has changed her appearance, magical signature, scent and even species to hide, but she happens to be the Mate of Lachlan the Wolf Alpha.
This is a fast-paced read. The characters are fun. Only issue is that Eve and her Fated Mate argue a lot and push each other away even though they are drawn to each other. It’s like neither of them wants to fight for their HEA.
Darkest Moon was an ok read. A nice start to the series with a bigger ARC and things to come. Things don’t get resolved and you get the impression early on that things will continue.
Rated: 3.5 Stars

Always hard to figure out where its best to start with these mega-world series, but good to know you figured out this one would work. I’m not hip on the argueing ones, either.
Ya I don’t like it when the main couple argue a lot or don’t want to fight for the HEA. Big worlds can be hard; especially if you need to read one series before another.
Hmm, I was going to say this sounds pretty interesting, but don’t know if I’d get to it or not. Definitely I’ll be watching to see if you read on and enjoy the next one any better. Great review!

Thanks Lisa. I haven’t been back to the series since I read this first book. I don’t have high hopes I will. It had some enjoyable aspects, but also some not so items. Appreciate you checking out the review.
