Joey W. Hill’s Vampire Queen novels keep the pages turning, your imagination running, [and] your dreams carnally vivid” (Bitten by Books). In her newest installment, a servant sentenced to death is sent into hiding and finds a passion she never expected in her new protector…

Groomed from birth to be an Inherited Servant and serve only the most powerful vampire Masters, Alanna never resented her destiny. Then she did the unthinkable: she betrayed her Master to the Vampire Council. Now death is her future, but until her Master is captured, she must be protected. The Vampire Council assigns her to Evan, a vampire whose wandering lifestyle makes him the perfect guardian…

Alanna’s training was for a vampire of power and ambition, not for someone like Evan who lives in mountainside shacks and caves. Even his servant, Niall, is rough mannered. But these two men are about to teach Alanna something her rigorous training never did: how to feel, how to desire …perhaps even how to love.

Then the Council captures her Master, and Alanna has no choice but to accept her destiny. But Evan and Niall are no strangers to defying fate—and they will stop at nothing to make Alanna theirs forever…

~ 5 Taken Stars ~

Well I had no idea what I was getting into when I picked up Taken by a Vampire. This is my first experience with this author and Joey Hill can create a world of passion, protection and Vampire taboo’s. I was pulled into the world she creates with ease, able to follow the story, even with this being book nine in her Vampire Queen series.

I had seen a few reviews around the blog-a-spheare and the cover said Oh Ya! Take Me I’m Yours! This book surprised me and I truly enjoyed reading this one. I had know idea that I was going to be delving into a BDSM story. I’m not one who likes to read BDSM stories; for some get a little out of hand or are hard fetched to believe, but the author wrote about the Vampire life of Master and servant with great care to make it believable and sensual. I enjoyed the sexual play, with its non-shock value and relatively tame aspect.

I loved the amazing dynamic between Evan, Niall and Alanna. The author put us inside each characters head and made us feel what they felt, the struggles they did, and their desires. The struggle that Alanna an overly-disciplined InhServ goes through to love and be loved, was so well written, I felt her struggles to stay true to her teachings as well as let go and find herself. The dynamic’s between the three will pull on your heart, tangle you so thoroughly, you’ll feel you might just die with them. The end I did not see coming and all I can say is it was well worth it. A surprise for the readers who pick this one up.

Taken by a Vampire showcases love and compassion overcoming evil. As well as witty banter, sadness and unconditional soul deep love. That tamer side of the BDSM as well as the amazing character development helped me enjoy this story. The sexual play had me fanning myself and getting all hot and bothered. After reading this you will need a fresh pair of panties!
