Viper is book one in the Sons of Sangue series by Patricia A. Rasey. I’ve never read a vampire bicker romance before and have had this one on my TBR for sometime. When it popped up on sale I bought it. This is my first experience with Ms. Rasey and it was just ok.
Viper aka Kane is the president of the Sons of Sangue. He is the ultimate bad boy, taking whatever he wants.
Cara Brahnam, is a police detective. She ran away from what she saw 10 years ago, but is now back in town investigating a murder which leads her right back to Kane and the reason she left in the first place.
Viper had it’s ups, downs and a nice plot plan with Bikers and Vampires, which got me interested in reading this book. The sexual aspects where intense and erotic. I found some aspects unique and interesting, but even with all of that I still had issues with Viper. Some of the plot points seemed un-ended or without reasons at times and some things where a bit repetitive taking away from the story. I’m not sure what it is about Viper, but it just did not fit for me. Maybe I wanted more “grit”, though it did have a “dark” feel with the “Rave’s”, but something was just off. The characters where ok. They never really stood out to me and I could not connect with the them. The storyline had some interesting elements, but still things did not quit work. The ending was not as “neat and tidy” as I like, leaving things unresolved.
Viper was an ok read and I do have plans to check out the next book, maybe it will be an improvement and will keep me reading the rest of this series. As for you if the blurb intrigues you, I urge you to give it a shot. Just because it did not work for me does not mean it won’t for you.

I’m not sure what I expected. I did have expectations, but I should never have them going into a book. I just thought vampires and bickers it would be more… I do plan to read the next. I always like to give a book series at least a two-three book try before saying no more.
Oh yeah, when I see bikers I expect things to get raw, dirty, and nasty. It’s unbelievable if it’s watered down.
