Culling The Herd of Books Part 4

This is Culling The Heard post #4. Goodreads has been a godsend in keeping track of the books I want to read, what I’ve read, what I own, and what I liked.

I decided to go through my Mountain of a TBR list and cull it out some. I’ve got books on their that I can’t remember why I put them on my list in the first place, I’ve got duplicates of the same book, and I’ve got all the books in a series added too. With the series books; what I want to do is put only book one on the list and once I read book one, then put book two on the list, and so on and so forth. If I decided I want to keep reading that series.

When I started this culling, My Goodreads TBR was 956. At the end it’s down to 850. I removed 106 books off my TBR. WOW!! My list is finally looking reasonable, but it’s still got a ways to go.

  2. I’ve started doing this as well. I get so irritated when it shows I have the same book twice on there. So that is hopefully something I will get cleared out as well as books I might never get around to. I attached my link to my similar post below. Good luck with your continuing culling!

  3. Goodreads has been amazing for me and keeping track of books. I just went a little crazy when I started on Goodreads, so I’m working on getting it more organized and reasonable. ^_^

  4. I hope it helps you. I have all the books in a series in the TBR sometimes. Also I sometimes have 2 copies because sometimes I own it in 2 different formats (or 3 – gasp!) and may have even read it in more than one format. So it’s complicated. I don’t care if the overall is huge because I have a funneling mechanism with other shelves to help me keep reading them. Anne – Books of MY Heart

    1. I have other shelves on Goodreads, but the To Read Shelf is out of control. I’m happy with my culling and plan on doing a little more. It’s almost finished, but still needs a little more.
