Reader Problems

You have 20,000 books in your TBR, how in the world do you decide what to read next?

I’m a mood reader, so I just go where the mood sends me. I’ll look at the cover, read the blurb to see if it interests me and then if I need a little extra help I’ll read a few reviews.

You’re halfway through a book and you’re just not loving it. Do you put it down or are you committed?

I put it down. Maybe I’ll come back to it or maybe I just leave it be an unfinished read aka DNF.

The end of the year is coming and you’re behind on your reading challenge, do you try to catch up? And if so, how?

Nope. Just let it be. I’m not going to stress myself out over a challenge. Challenges are to be fun not stressful.

The covers of a series you love do not match, how do you cope?

It’s always sad when covers don’t match in a series or when an author changes the covers mid-series. I just deal. Their’s nothing I can do. I might end up rebuying the physical copies if I love the series or I just leave it. My collection these days is eBook and those covers change automatically.

Everyone and their mother loves a book that you do not. Who do you bond with over your shared feelings?

Well my friends and family don’t read what I read (paranormal romance, science fiction romance, and urban fantasy), so it’s my blogger friends that I go to to share my feelings on a book.

You’re reading a book in public and you’re about to start crying. How do you deal?

I grab a tissue and just let my tears run.

The sequel to a book you loved just came out, but you’ve forgotten a lot of what happens. Are you going to reread it?

Umm, maybe. Maybe not. Depends on my mood and if I feel like re-reading the book; before reading the latest book out.

You do not want anyone to borrow your books, how do you politely say no when someone asks?

Well, no one has asked me, so I don’t know what I’d do if they did. ECopies are easier to share and I’m ok with that. No harm in those getting damaged, but my physical books I’m more protective over.

You have picked up and put down 5 books in the last month. How do you get over this reading slump?

I re-read or listen to my favorites until I feel I can read something new. I like Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews, Pride series by Shelly Laurentson, or Dragon Kin by G.A. Aiken. The action, humor, and silly ness help me in my reading slumps.

There are so many books coming out that you are dying to read, how many do you end up buying?

I use my library. As for buying I only have two authors I audio-buy new releases for and that’s Patrica Briggs and Ilona Andrews. The library is the way to go.

After you purchase all of these books that you’re dying to read how long do they sit on your shelves before you get to them?

I use to read them day of or next day of release. Now, It could be a year later or more. Not sure why I’ve changed, but that’s how it is.

Those are the answers to my reader problems.
What would your answers be?

  1. I’m so disappointed with my library. They never have the book I’m looking for when I need it. I can’t read a series out of order and they are always missing some. The libraries around me are very small and I’m not considered in their city so I would have to pay to join them, but Houston is available to the whole state and I use their library. Most of the time I end up either reading review books or buying. Thanks for doing the tag!

    1. That’s a bummer on your library. It’s nice when small library partner up with others, so you can get the books and full series, but when they don’t it’s frustrating. I had a library like that before I moved to a bigger city. This was a fun and quick tag to do. Thank’s for stopping in.
