Jane Yellowrock is a vampire killer for hire—but other creatures of the night still need to watch their backs....

When the Master of the city of New Orleans asks Jane to improve security for a future visit from a delegation of European vampires, she names an exorbitant price—and Leo is willing to pay. That’s because the European vamps want Leo’s territory, and he knows that he needs Jane to prevent a total bloodbath. Leo, however, doesn’t mention how this new job will change Jane’s life or the danger it will bring her and her team.

Jane has more to worry about than some greedy vampires. There’s a vicious creature stalking the streets of New Orleans, and its agenda seems to be ripping Leo and her to pieces. Now Jane just has to figure out how to kill something she can’t even see….

Also in this series: Strange Brew, Skinwalker, Cat Tales, Blood Cross, Mercy Blade, Raven Cursed

You have the heart of a warrior. The soul of a priestess. The heat of a long-burning fire.

Broken Soul is book eight in the Jane Yellowrock series by Faith Hunter.

A lot happens in this novel. Many changes, revelations, and secrets come to light.

Early in the series the blood diamond came into play. There’s always someone who knows about it and wants to get their hands on it. Jane has it hidden away for now. The plan was and is to destroy it, but that hasn’t happened yet.

If you are expecting The European Council of Mithrin Vampier’s to show, they don’t make an appearance yet, but our gang is getting ready for their arrival.

As I said a lot happens in Broken Soul to give Jane and her gang a run. Just because our Euro vamps aren’t here yet, doesn’t mean they aren’t planning and interfering.

We get a lot of developments in Broken Soul. Eli and the Kid, Alex, continue to be fun and an entertaining presence in Jane’s life. They are changing her and becoming family. Jane and Beast also go through some changes and character growth. Then we have Bruiser our love interest. I wasn’t sure on him, but I did/do like him so much more then Rick. Rick is and will always be a dush. I’m happy to say I like how Bruiser is winning Jane over and focuses on both her natures not just one or the other. He truly sees her.

Broken Soul was an entertaining and enjoyable read. I took a break from this series and after reading a little short story in the world I felt it was time to dive back into Jane Yellowrock and see how things turn out for our gang. I wasn’t disappointed.

About Faith Hunter

Faith Hunter is a New York Times and USAToday bestselling author. She writes dark urban fantasy, paranormal urban thrillers, paranormal police procedurals, and science fiction.

Her long-running, bestselling, Skinwalker series features Jane Yellowrock, a hunter of rogue-vampires. The Soulwood series features Nell Nicholson Ingram in paranormal crime solving novels. Her Rogue Mage novels, a dark, post-apocalyptic fantasy series, features Thorn St. Croix, a stone mage in an alternate reality. She has won numerous awards and Curse on The Land won an Audie Award for 2017. She also writes a Scifi novella series Junkyard Cats.

Under the pen name Gwen Hunter, she has written action adventure, mysteries, thrillers, women’s fiction, a medical thriller series, and even historical religious fiction. As Gwen, she was part of the WH Smith Literary Award for Fresh Talent in 1995 in the UK, and won a Romantic Times Reviewers Choice Award in 2008. Under all her pen names, she has over 40 books in print in 30 countries.

All of that Faith finds terribly boring. In real life, Faith once broke a stove by refusing to turn it on for so long that its parts froze and the unused stove had to be replaced. She collects orchids and animal skulls, rocks and fossils, loves to sit on the screened back porch in lightning storms, and is a workaholic with a passion for white-water kayaking, and RV travel. She prefers Class III whitewater rivers with no gorge to climb out of, and drinks a lot of tea. Some days she’s a lady. Some days she ain’t.

  1. I do agree on the covers they are wicked. They fit each book and they fit the character. I hope you enjoy whenever you read. It’s been good and I’m still slowly working my way through the books.

  2. This is near the top of my series to read list! I can’t wait. So happy to see you are still enjoying the series. Don’t they have wicked covers!

  3. I read a novella in an anthology and became interested in the series, but it took me a while before I picked it up. I took me a few books to get into the series, but now I’m invested and really like the developments with Jane, Beast, and the gang of characters. What gave me a hard time at the start was Ricky Boy. I disliked him, not right for Jane, and all the anguish having around caused. Cant’ wait to see what you think of the books. Hope you enjoy!
