This tag has been popping up on many blogs. I’ve enjoyed seeing everyone’s picks. I’ve done this tag in the past and so, I decided to answer the questions again for 2025.

Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag
Best book(s) you’ve read in 2025?
Unfortunately, I haven’t read an 2025 releases.
New Release(s) you haven’t read yet, but you want to (release(s) that are out)?
I pre-ordered this novel, but have yet to read it.
Best sequel you’ve read in 2025 (It’s the second book in a series)?
I’ve been continuing my GraphicAudio listen of The Gunnie Rose Series. I’m really enjoying the GA’s.
Most anticipate release(s) for the second half of the year (not out yet)?
I’ve been anticipating To Kill A Badger since the author announced another Badger story. Then I just saw a review for A Tale of Mirth & Magic and it sounded so much fun.
Biggest disappointment of the year?
I adored book 1 in The Body Shop, but the second installment was not my cup of tea. I still plan to listen on in the series.
Most surprising book(s) of this year?
These two titles are new-to-me and I found I really liked these much more then I expected too. Kiss of Steel is Steampunk a new genre for me and An Easy Death is Dystopia genre; something I’ve only read very little of.
Favorite new author?
Bec McMaster
Newest fictional crush?
Blade our devilish handsome rogue Blue Blood.
Newest favorite character?
Gunnie Rose is such a cool kick-ass gun slinging cow girl.
A book that made you cry?
The alien race, Hiru, are such a sad race on the verge of extinction and hunted by another alien race. Dina can’t say no to helping them. Their are some heartfelt/sad scenes that get to the reader.
A book that made you happy?
I picked the first book in the Innkeeper Chronicles series. It’s such a great start to the series with lots of fun scenes that make you smile, laugh, and giggle.
Favorite book to movie adaptation?
I don’t have one.
Favorite book review you’ve posted this year?
It’s a delightfully witty and fun read from the sarcastic female lead to the flabbergasted villain.
Most beautiful book(s) you have bought this year?
Oh boy! I’ve bought a lot…
What books do you need to read by the end of the year?
I don’t need to read any. I stopped requesting ARC’s and I’m focusing on my TBR and books I own.
I’d love to hear from you!

The Juliette Cross book is so pretty! Some great books so far this year it looks like.

The Cross book is pretty. That book is a spin-off from her Stay a Spell series. I really enjoyed the Stay a Spell series, so I picked up A Rebel Without Claws. This is a fun tag to do and I like showing off books. Thanks Lisa for visiting.
Looks like you’re having a great time in books so far this year! I actually answered the questions and posted them on my Tumblr, if you’d care to take a quick look! 🙂 https://angelqueen04.tumblr.com/post/789599962236436480/2025-mid-year-book-freak-out-tag
Thanks for checking out my post. I enjoyed your picks on your tumbler post.
Happy Reading Kim!
You are reading great stuff!
Thanks! I’m trying to try new stuff, read what I own, and get my TBR read. It’s been good since June when I started listening to a lot of audiobooks. Happy Reading!
Good for you for not requesting ARCs. It’s impossible to keep up with ARCs and if you’re reading ARCs you can’t read what you want to read. I’ve accepted a couple of ARCs but I am not allowed to request more until the ones I have are read and reviewed.
I used to get a bunch of ARC’s before COVID, but then I hit a really long reading slump and decided to no long get ARC’s and to read what I own, use my library, or go freebie eBooks. I’m also a mood reader and as you say when you have ARC’s you have to complete during their time frame and you may not be in the mood. ^_^
Thanks Val for visiting and chatting. Happy Reading!
