Book Blogger Hop: New Authors or Familiar Faces?

Welcome to the Book Blogger Hop hosted by Coffee Addicted Writer.  The hop takes place weekly, starting on a Friday and concluding the following Thursday.  Each week features a specific prompt that poses a book-related question for participants to address.  The primary aim of the blog hop is to facilitate connections among bloggers, encouraging them to follow one another, explore new book titles, and increase their audience.  To check out 2025 Prompts: click here.

This weeks prompt – Do you seek out new authors to read, or do you tend to stick with the same ones? ╍ (Submitted by Elizabeth, Silver’s Review)

My Answer: I don’t specifically go out of my way to seek out a new author.  I have a few authors that I stick too like; Patricia Briggs, Ilona Andrews, Shelly Laurenston aka G.A. Aiken, Nalini Singh & Hailey Edwards.  I’ll read anything and everything they wright even if it’s outside the Paranormal or Urban Fantasy genre I enjoy.  As for new authors I do branch out and have been trying non-familiar authors because they are on my TBR or a blogger recommended a book they wrote.

I’d love to hear from you!

  1. Little bit of both but I am kind of picky. I tend to get bored with the patterns of some storytellers, so I actively seek out fresh voices.

    1. I can see how some authors can get boring and you need something fresh. I’m also a picky reader, but also a mood reader. I’m jump all over the place. Thanks for visiting and sharing your thoughts on this question.

  2. I like to try new authors if the books sound interesting but I also reread old favorites & have auto buy authors I love! 🙂

  3. While I tend to lean towards authors I KNOW, I do enjoy reading from authors I do not know. I have found some of my favorite authors by ‘accident’ randomly choosing a book to read!

  4. There are many authors which I pick up virtually automatically, but I also look out for possible new authors to read. I find them mainly from various newsletters and also from the library newsletter which lists new books added to their collection.

  5. I tend to stick with the same authors, especially if I had read and enjoyed one of their books. I don’t usually go looking for new to me authors.

  6. I’ve discovered so many new-to-me authors over the years thanks to bloggers and book clubs. And some of them become old favorites–like Ilona Andrews. 🙂 Have a great week!

  7. Like you, I don’t specifically go looking for new to me authors. If I try their stuff, it is because something about their book caught my attention, I needed a book like it for a reading challenge, or I saw it recommended by someone I enjoy similar reading tastes.
