This weeks prompt – Oct 17th – Would you rather read a book with terrible writing but a good story or a book with a terrible story but good writing? (submitted by Snapdragon @ Snapdragon Alcove)
My Answer: This is a tough question to ask. “Terrible” is a harsh word. It can mean different things to different people. Is it grammatical errors or bad research or something else. I have to say a good story out ways terrible not so good writing. If the story isn’t good I wouldn’t be able to read the book. I can over look not so good writing as long as the the characters are interesting and the plot pulls me in. I’ve read a few books were the writing isn’t so good, but the story was.
I’d love to hear from you!

Yes, agreed. Terrible is too harsh – if any aspect is terrible, I am not going to read it. But if the story is engrossing, I can overlook little issues.
I totally agree, I can ignore grammatical errors and such, but a terrible story is a painful experience.
Yeah, I can ignore the distractions of poor editing or the occasional grammar/spelling error or even some other issues if the story or characters are holding my attention.
I agree with you. If the story and plot is good than I will overlook if the writing is not good. I don’t mind grammatical errors or maybe something else. Have a great weekend!
