Penny could've had no idea of the amount of explosive magic that runs through her blood.
Something has always been missing from my life. A hole that I could never seem to fill.
When I accidentally turn a coven of witches into nightmares, I find out what that something is. Magic. And it turns out, I have a crap load of it.
As a latent power awakens deep inside of me, I’m exposed to one of the most powerful and corrupt organizations in the magical world—the Mages’ Guild. Barely knowing a spell from a few swear words and luck, I won’t be able to evade them alone.
And that’s when I meet him. The Rogue Natural. The best and most feared mage in the world. He’s dangerous, mysterious, and has a vendetta of his own. He is now the only thing between me and magical enslavement.
Also in this series: Natural Witch

Natural Mage is book two in the Magical Mayhem Trilogy by K.F. Breene
I didn’t finish this one (DNF at 66%). Neither the plot nor the heroine, Penny, captured my interest.
My biggest issue with the book is Penny. I couldn’t connect with her character, finding her frustratingly immature for a 24-year-old. Her actions made her feel like a “too-stupid-to-live” character, which made her power seem completely wasted
The romance suffers because Penny and Emery are separated for approximately 60% of the book, spending that time primarily wallowing in self-pity, which makes the plot feel quite depressing.
Reagan is, in my opinion, the true star and powerhouse of the series. The first three books in the Demon Days & Vampire Nights world belong entirely to her, and I absolutely adore her character. I would much rather focus on the unfolding relationship between her and Darius than the pairing of Penny and Emery.
Beyond the main cast, the Guild lacks any substance and feels like a generic shadow organization. Similarly, Veronica is a non-entity who serves no real purpose and fades into irrelevance.
Natural Mage was not the book for me. If the blurb intrigues you, I urge you to give it a shot. Just because it did not work for me does not mean it won’t for you.
Rated: DNF 66%
** I started this in Jan. and finally gave up in Dec. =/
