My secret is out

Despite ten years of secrecy, Lachlan has figured out that I’m his mate. And he’s not pleased that I’ve been hiding from him. It’s hardly my worst problem, though.

There’s a killer after me. Multiple killers, if our source is to be believed. And they’re determined to find me. As much as I want to run a hundred miles from Lachlan to avoid the mate bond, it’s too dangerous. I need his help to find the people who are after me, and there’s no way he’d let me go, anyway.

As much as I hate it, we’re going to have to team up to stop a madman. The hunt forces us into close proximity, and despite our best efforts to resist each other, it becomes harder every day. Fate seems determined to have its way, and what it wants is for me and Lachlan to be together.

Also in this series: Darkest Moon

I read this back in 2021 on Kindle Unlimited.

Wild Hunt is book two in the Shadow Guild: Wolf Queen series by Linsey Hall.

I enjoyed the setup in Darkest Moon, but this sequel lacked the same drive. While I enjoyed learning more about Eve’s history, the story felt too easy. There was no real ‘work’ involved for the characters—every time they hit a wall, a convenient fix just manifested out of nowhere. It lacked the grit and energy that made the first book so engaging.

I’m finding the Lachlan-Eve dynamic increasingly frustrating; it feels like their subplot is dragging without much meaningful progress.

I think I’ve reached the end of the road with this series. While Wild Hunt had a few promising moments, they weren’t enough to keep me invested. Instead of feeling engaged, I finished the book feeling confused and befuddled. It ends on a cliffhanger that leaves me with more questions than answers, especially since several plot points felt nonsensical

About Linsey Hall

Before becoming a writer, Linsey was an archaeologist who studied shipwrecks in all kinds of water, from the tropics to muddy rivers (and she has a distinct preference for one over the other). After a decade of tromping around in search of old bits of stuff, she settled down to started penning her own adventure novels and is freaking delighted that people seem to like them. Since life is better with a little (or a lot of) magic, she writes urban fantasy and paranormal romance.
