Book Blogger Hop: Confessions of a Shy Reader

Welcome to another week of the Book Blogger Hop, hosted by the wonderful Coffee Addicted Writer.  If you’re new here, this weekly event kicks off every Friday and runs through the following Thursday.  It’s all about bringing our community together through a fun, bookish prompt.  It’s a fantastic way to discover new titles, meet fellow bibliophiles, and grow your own circle of readers!  Check out the 2026 Prompts to see what else is in store for the year!

This weeks prompt March 13th – Are there genres you read that you feel a little shy about? (submitted by Billy @ Coffee-Addicted Writer)

My Answer: When I first began my reading journey, I was actually quite shy about my love for romance and it’s sub-genres like Erotic Romance. In fact, you can see that hesitation in my blog’s history—I originally named it Angel’s Guilty Pleasures. Back then, I truly felt that “guilt” whenever I picked up a romance novel. While a hint of that shyness remains, I’ve largely moved past it. I’ve learned to embrace the genre and its many sub-genres, and I’m much more comfortable sharing my honest thoughts with the community now. I even rebranded the blog to reflect that I no longer view my favorite books as something to feel guilty about!

I’d love to hear your thoughts! Are there any genres that still make you feel a bit self-conscious? Leave a comment below and let’s chat!
