Tammy has always tried to be prepared for any calamity life might send her way but she never imagined a sexy, lion man-beast in her future. He’s huge, got the most exotic, golden cat-eyes she’s ever seen, and she’s so terrified she’s speechless for the first time in her life. He’s stalking closer, growling at her, and she’s too terrified to even flee.

Valiant hates humans. But when he gets a whiff of the adorable human female who has invaded his territory, he starts rethinking. Her fear scents of pure, sweet temptation and the closer he gets, the more appealing she becomes. Once he’s got his hands on her, he isn’t about to let her go. One thought will change his life. MINE!

Before Tammy can regain her senses, she’s flat on her back in Valiant’s bed. Now he just has to use every inch of his big, buff body to convince her that she should stay with him forever.

“I’ve decided I’m keeping you forever. You’re mine.”

I have had a hard time getting into “New Species” series by Laurann Dahner. It reminds me of Lora Leigh’s “Breeds” series, but not as good. Each book has been a 3 star for me, but book 3 “Valiant” impressed me and was an improvement over the first two books in the series.

This story starts off with a chance meeting between Tammy and Valiant… that was never meant to happen.

Valiant is known for his hatred of humans; because of the treatment he received in captivate and his fierce and pronounced New Species looks. After so much time alone he is ready to find a mate to fill his loneliness preferably with a New Species female. All his planing goes to hell once he smells Tammy and the only thing he can think is MINE and I have to keep her forever.

“He’s spent a lifetime locked in a dank cell, hurting most of the time, and always so lonely.”

Tammy’s motto in life is “shit happens”. She has a very active mind and every day she thinks about all the possible bad things that could happen to her, but a chance meeting with a New Species changed her life. She is no pushover with her stubbornness and need to fill her every breath with blabber, even with her growing feelings for Valiant she is still hesitant to commit to a forever kind of relationship.

The plot and character development has improved in the third installment. I felt that Valiant and Tammy complement each other. We get to learn more about the New Species and the hate group.

About Laurann Dohner

NY Times and USA Today Bestselling Author

I’m a full time wife, mother, and author. I’ve been lucky enough to have spent over three decades with the love of my life and look forward to many, many more years with Mr. Laurann. I’m addicted to iced coffee, the occasional candy bar (or two), and trying to get at least five hours of sleep at night.

I love to write all kinds of stories. I think the best part about writing is the fact that real life is always uncertain, always tossing things at us that we have no control over, but when writing you can make sure there’s always a happy ending. I love that about being an author. My favorite part is when I sit down at my computer desk, put on my headphones to listen to loud music to block out everything around me, so I can create worlds in front of me.
