Jeanie loves a New Species and is willing to pay for that love with pain, tears and heartbreak. She’ll do anything to keep 710 alive but she never wants him to know how she suffered for him. He’s the reason for her mission in life—freeing others like him.

True has a new life working with the NSO to rescue his people. A good life, until he encounters a dying woman—the female who betrayed him. True should feel gratified that she’s finally going to pay for her crimes, but she claims to be a victim too. He is still irresistibly drawn to the pretty little human who touched his heart and made him want her. When he clasps her hand to offer comfort, his instincts kick in and True will fight everyone to protect her.

True is the 11th book in the New Species series by Laurann Dohner. The premise is the same as all the other New Species books in that an evil drug company used, enslaved and mistreated New Species; the freed new species are living in two independent areas within the USA and are continuing to investigate and find New Species still enslaved.

Ms. Dohner did not disappoint. She takes us to a facility that still has New Species that are being used for tests. Showing us a technician who sees the New Species as individual people and wants to save them. I enjoyed the quick fast paced plot with a whole new bad guy who has even more access to information then you would think. As for the relationship we have seen a similar situation in the New Species series with Ellie and Fury’s story, but their are differences that make True different. Then we have the sexual relationship between True and Jeanie. Ms. Dohner did not fail us on the sexual tension and explosive bedroom action between our main characters.

I enjoyed Jeanie. She is kind, caring, strong and only wants to help. She went through a lot for True and others in her facility. I was surprised to see this twist, thou it has been indicated in previous New Species books what the bad facility wants. I was pleased to see that she received allies in True and the others from her facility when she needed help. They showed solidarity and friendship. I also liked True in this story. He is so sweet and protective of Jeanie, even thou he felt Jeanie had betrayed him, he wasn’t as bent on revenge against her. I admired his ability to stand by Jeanie and support her. It was very nice to see this.

I felt that True had the right mix of romance and mystery, with a few new twists that made it a bit different from the other New Species books. I as enjoyed the little bit of humor mixed in with the danger. True was a truly great read in this series and I recommended it for anyone who likes a little mystery with there erotic.

About Laurann Dohner

NY Times and USA Today Bestselling Author

I’m a full time wife, mother, and author. I’ve been lucky enough to have spent over three decades with the love of my life and look forward to many, many more years with Mr. Laurann. I’m addicted to iced coffee, the occasional candy bar (or two), and trying to get at least five hours of sleep at night.

I love to write all kinds of stories. I think the best part about writing is the fact that real life is always uncertain, always tossing things at us that we have no control over, but when writing you can make sure there’s always a happy ending. I love that about being an author. My favorite part is when I sit down at my computer desk, put on my headphones to listen to loud music to block out everything around me, so I can create worlds in front of me.

    1. Hi Herding Cats, I hope you can make time to try this series out. I will say it has gotten better as the series progresses. As any long series goes it has up’s and down’s, but I’ve enjoyed it more then I thought I would when I started New Species series.
Thank you for stoping bye and checking out the review.
