Beauty resents being labeled Gift Species. Everyone is way too overprotective, males aren’t even allowed to speak to her and so far true freedom eludes her. Then a big, sexy Species officer mistakes her for the enemy and takes her to the ground.

Shadow is dumbfounded. He has a Gift pinned under him—a big no-no. But Beauty is fascinated and wants to know Shadow a lot better. She is full of newly discovered, unrequited passion and he’s just what she needs to satisfy her curiosity.

For Shadow, sex means pain and revulsion. For Beauty, it was enslavement and ridicule. Two lonely souls who have never known a lover’s touch, together in a cabin in the woods. Each touch, every discovery brings them closer to a life they never thought possible…beyond even their dreams.

~ 3.5 Shadow Stars ~

Shadow is book 9 in the New Species series. It’s nice to see a Gift female get a story. We finally get to see how they are treated after there rescues and that not all like the title Gift female given to them. The New Species have sheltered, forbidden any male to come near and treat them with kid gloves. Not all of them wanted to be protected and coddled. Beauty wants freedom, to feel alive and no longer be lonely. The new species screwed the pooch as Breeze would say with the Gift females.

I liked the development in the relationship between Shadow and Beauty. They both where damaged by humans and come together to live life. The sexual tension was well done. I found it cute that Beauty is clueless about Species Males andI liked how Shadow saw Beauty as more then a Gift female. I also enjoyed visiting Reservation and learning more about the residents of the Wild Zone. We get a little humor, self growth, healing and of course we can’t forget the sex.
