Devil’s Bargain
by Christine Warren
~ 3 Stars ~

This short story was interesting, steamy and certain parts were funny, but it’s not fantastic. It’s not like her “Others” series, if your looking for something on that line this is not it.

~ 1.5/2 Stars ~

This short story goes with her Black London series. This story is #1.5 in the series. I wanted to get into Black London, but I’m having such a hard time with the series.

Jake is an ass and not likable especially in this story. The denouement is most confusing; I did not understand who was doing what or what was their driving purpose, I just couldn’t bring myself to care for any of the characters, and the plot was unnecessarily complicated.

About Caitlin Kittredge

Caitlin Kittredge is the author of the Nocturne City and Black London series, as well as several short stories. She started writing novels at age 13, and after a few years writing screenplays, comic books and fan-fiction, she wrote Night Life, her debut novel. She’s lucky enough to write full time and watches far too many trashy horror movies. She lives in Olympia, Washington.

About Christine Warren

Born and raised in coastal New England, Christine Warren now lives in the Pacific Northwest and only wonders what took her so long to get there.

When not scrambling frantically to complete her latest writing project, Christine spends most of her time as a crazy animal lady, hanging out with her dog Levi, her horse Cal, and the assorted human friends willing to put up with her oddity. In addition to playing with her pets, Christine’s hobbies include identifying dog breeds from photos of their underbellies, appreciating fine and not-so-fine wines, shopping for the perfect pair of Christian Louboutin shoes, and most of all reading things someone else had to agonize over.

She enjoys hearing from readers and can be reached via email sent to Christine@christinewarren.net or by postal mail to Christine Warren, PO Box 871900, Vancouver, WA 98687-1900.

    1. I got this one to read about the Black London series, because I read book one and it was interesting. I wanted to learn a little more, but then I was disappointed in “Down in the Ground Where the Dead Men Go” that I decided reading that series was not worth my time. It’s hard to say no to a series, but there are so many great ones, that I want to get too.
I read Christine Warrens think of its going to be like The Others series she has it it wasn’t. =(
Not sure how good the other authors and stories are. I might have to read them some time.
