Ellie is horrified to discover the pharmaceutical company she works for is doing illegal experiments. Company scientists have spliced human and animal DNA, creating exotic new species. One such “experiment” captures her heart and she’ll do anything to save him—even if he hates her for it.

Fury has never known compassion or love. He’s spent his life in a cell, chained and abused by humans. The one woman he allowed himself to trust betrayed him. Now he’s free and set on vengeance. He vows to end her life but when she’s finally in his grasp, harming her is the last thing he wants to do to the sexy little human.

Fury can’t resist Ellie—the touch of her hands, her mouth on his skin, her body wrapped around his. He’s obsessed with the scent of his woman. And Ellie wants Fury—always has. She craves his big, powerful body and wants to heal his desolate heart.

But loving Fury is one thing…taming him is another.

~ 4 Fury Stars ~

Fury is book one in the New Species series by Laurann Dohner. The first time I read this I rated it three stars, but now that I know the world, characters, and have a better feel for the New Species I upped my rating. I enjoyed Fury better the second time around.

This series is not for the faint of heart, with some close rape scenes, violence, racism, and some very HOT sex. It does take some getting use too the New Species as a breed, the violence they and others go through as well as the oh so SPICY sex. The New Species are trying to adjust into a world that does not want them as well as they are learning about themselves and their animal instincts. It was great to see them trying to learn and adjust to life in the real world.

Their is lots of wit and headache too in this book. The couple Fury and Ellie have several obstacles to get over between themselves and others to be in a relationship. It’s all new for everyone. We get to live this new life and experience through both Ellie and Fury’s point of view. The way they handle issues that came up is both heartwarming and heartbreaking depending on the scene. It’s a battle for everyone both as individual people and as a group.

Fury is a good beginning to the series and it only gets better as it goes along. If you are looking for something that’s erotic, sexy, and different, then I recommend giving this one a try.

About Laurann Dohner

NY Times and USA Today Bestselling Author

I’m a full time wife, mother, and author. I’ve been lucky enough to have spent over three decades with the love of my life and look forward to many, many more years with Mr. Laurann. I’m addicted to iced coffee, the occasional candy bar (or two), and trying to get at least five hours of sleep at night.

I love to write all kinds of stories. I think the best part about writing is the fact that real life is always uncertain, always tossing things at us that we have no control over, but when writing you can make sure there’s always a happy ending. I love that about being an author. My favorite part is when I sit down at my computer desk, put on my headphones to listen to loud music to block out everything around me, so I can create worlds in front of me.
