AND SHE WILL BE THEIR QUEEN

Cat Fisa's warlord captor-turned-lover may have crowned her with the symbols of the three realms, but war is far from over. She believes in what Griffin is trying to accomplish. She believes that peace will finally come when the realms are united. And she believes that with her by his side, Griffin has the strength to change the world.

But with her dangerous past resurfacing and the neighboring royals out for blood, Cat and Griffin must strike soon if they want to unify the land without full-scale war.

They'll do anything to avoid innocent bloodshed, including crossing the treacherous Ice Plains or entering the deadly Agon Games to win access to the royal court…and the very family they plan to usurp. When their desperate battle for survival is over, Cat and Griffin will either be standing side-by-side in the heart of their future kingdom—or not at all.

Breath of Fire is book two in the Kingmaker Chronicles and it starts right where A Promise of Fire ends.

I did a re-read of A Promise of Fire; before picking this one up. I wanted to be fresh on all the events and also I just loved book one so much that I felt it was time to revisit it.

The beginning was my only issue with this book. I have to say, WOW, I was not expecting that start to a Breath of Fire. I was very shocked and disappointed in Griffin. He knows her past. The abuse both physical and mental, so for him to act that way, was just sad and shocking. I felt for Cat. She didn’t know what was going on, has no experience or good role models on relationships, so it was just heartbreaking. Once that boom and issue got resolved, thankfully it was fast, things moved fast and I do mean fast.

I will say their is a lot more sex and thinking of sex in this book. It felt a bit overwhelming at times and I was wondering if the story was going to get lost in their, but things pick up and we are through back into the gang, now the Alpha Team, to head off to the Iceplains to secure magical creatures to protect Sinta’s boarder, but before that we go on a quest from the Gods and many many things are reveled about several of the Alpha Team members. We also know that war is coming, so to stop this Cat must take up the mantle she has been avoiding, her destiny.

The story, characters, and world are magical. I like the mythology woven in and how the stakes continue to rack up. Cat, Griffin, and Company must face their destinies and their futures. They will have to make tough decisions and take risks that will change them all. The biggest battle is yet to come.

This was another action-packed adventure. So much happens, so much is reveled, new allies, and much much more. I don’t want to spoil it, because really this Fantasy Romance needs to be read. You will not be disappointed.

  1. I’ve been seeing this book around more often lately and it’s making me curious about this series. It really sounds like a good series. I like how you describe this book and it seems a good continuation of the series. Great review!

    1. Thank’s Lola. I LOVED book one and couldn’t wait for book two. I’m excited for the third and final installment. It just had enough things going for it that it captured me.

  2. I still haven’t started book one. I need to get to it soon. I even have it on iPod to listen to. I just keep hearing such great things. I know that sounds weird, but I’m worried about it being over-hyped and it will disappoint me. I will get to it soon.

    1. I’ve had the same issues before with hear such great things and hoping the book doesn’t disappoint. I am very sure this one will nock your socks off and win you over big time. I don’t know about the audio since I read it, but I have to say I was blown away with book one. This second book was amazing too even with my issue at the start. It was such a hard and shocking start, but it got resolved fast.

    1. Book one is FABULOUS! And, book two was great even with my issue at the start. I really enjoy the world, characters, and plot. Can’t wait for the book three.
