June is full of things to celebrate — the beginning of summer, Father’s Day (June 16), national donut day (June 3), and Audiobook Month (June 1-30)! I’m kick off the most wonderful time of the year with a giveaway, but before we get to the giveaway I want to share with why I enjoy audiobooks and where you can pick up audiobooks.
Why I enjoy audiobooks:
I love the experience of hearing the text come to life. Finally giving voice to those characters in a book that I’ve come to enjoy. Sometimes I read a book, love it so much that months later I want to experience listening to it. To get a whole new perspective. And, I do. I even notice things that I missed when reading. It’s a wonderful experience. Now not all audiobooks work for me, but not all books work either. Another thing is I can be anywhere; in my car, in the gym, out taking walk, doing housework, and I can still be transported away into my own little world.
Where to pick up audiobooks:
For me the library has been the best place to pick up audiobooks to try. And, the best part is the library is FREE, so their’s no way you shouldn’t give audiobooks a try. With the library they have many different apps you can use to borrow: Hoopla, OverDirve, & Libby.
You can also pick up audiobooks on Kobo, Audible, Audiobooks, BookShout, & Author’s Direct. Now these sites will have a monthly fee or pay per audiobook.
Ends June 30th, 2019: One (1) lucky winner will receive 3 Months on Audible (3 credits, plus monthly Audible Originals a $45 US value). “If you are already a member-great! Instead of a monthly membership, you’ll get all the credits upfront. Your current plan will not be extended or interrupted.”
I love audio books because I can get other things done while listening.
I love audiobooks, totally changed the way I read! I drive a lot, so I usually listen while driving or doing tasks around the house. I can read a book much faster this way~
I enjoy a good audiobook for sure. I wish our library did hoopla. We just have overdrive which is handy at least 🙂 Thanks for the chance!
I put the wrong link in for Daily BookBub like (6/9)
I liked the review for Witch Slapped (Beechwood Harbor Magic Mysteries Book 3)
by Danielle Garrett.
Sorry about that.
NW. Thank’s for the update!
I just spent a few hours listening to an audiobook this morning while I cleaned and did laundry. It makes those tasks SO much more pleasant!
I tried listening to an audiobook but, my mind keeps on wandering elsewhere so, in the end, I stopped listening to it. I prefer reading than listening.
Yea for JIAM! I didn’t do anything on the blog this year. I just didn’t have the energy. SO I’m super glad to see your post! Thanks!
I now listen to more books than I read! Love them and my library?
My chores and walking regime are much more engaging now that I have audios. Love finding narrators that make a book come alive, too.
I have a stack of audibles that I want to get to. I figure I’ll listen to one a week on my day off, lounging by the pool:)
I love audiobooks while driving.
I haven’t tried audio books before
Audiobooks have allowed me to increase my reading by at least 100 books a year because I can listen while doing other things.
I love audio books, because I can read while doing other things!
I love audiobooks. Listening while doing chores makes the chores much more bearable.
The narrator totally makes or breaks an audiobook for me. I really want to listen to them with my writing partner when we travel and hang out and aren’t writing. But the ones we’ve tried to far have mostly been a bust because of odd narrators. We need to keep trying!
I completely agree. I love audiobooks, but have stopped listening to several good books because of an odd narrator. Then again, there have been a few that I’ve loved even more because the narrator did a wonderful job.
