Hello and Welcome All!
Today I’m very lucky to be interviewing C.D. Britt author of Reaper of Chaos.
Hi C.D., thank you for agreeing to this interview. For those readers not familiar with you, would you please tell us a bit about yourself?
Hello! I am a fantasy romance author from Texas. I have two kids, one husband (I couldn’t handle more than that), and a cat who runs things around here. I am obsessed with crows and gothic romances and am bummed no one in my family has an old gothic home for me to inherit. Feel free to connect with me on social media!
How did you choose the genre you write in?
I just started writing what I loved to read. Eventually, I found I liked writing urban fantasy more so than my beloved gothic romances, so I veered in that direction. I still enjoy reading any and every type of fantasy.
Is there any particular author or book that influenced you in any way wither growing up or as an adult?
As a child, I loved R.L. Stein. As an adult, I have so many authors that influence me… but V.E. Schwab is probably the one I relate to the most. I love her unique writing style.
What are you reading?
I am currently reading One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig.
How do you relax?
By reading a book with a glass of wine or playing a video game while listening to one of my Spotify playlists.
What was the hardest thing about writing your latest book?
I had a lot of people excited to read Thanatos’s story, so there was a tremendous amount of pressure to do his story justice. I truly hope I managed to do so!
If this book is part of a series, tell us a little about it?
This is the first book in the Reign of Goddesses spin off series. It is going to be a series based on several of the most popular secondary characters.
Tell us about the cover and how it came about.
The cover was done by Hannah Sternjakob who I gave a general idea to. All I had was the title and that I wanted a skull and crown on the cover, and she created this beautiful cover for me!
Tell us all about your main characters — who are they? What make them tick?
Thanatos and Lira are my main characters in Reaper of Chaos. They are both connected to death, but in very different ways. It is a driving force for their decisions as well as apart of their nature. It connects them together as well, which starts their romance. As for who Lira is… you’ll find out once you read it!
Please share the opening lines of this book:
Thanatos had not been joking when he told everyone he was taking a vacation. He had to leave the Underworld after the battle between the titans and the goddesses that had destroyed the city, and by proxy, what remained of the world.
Please share a few fun facts about this book…
Thanatos’s shirts are still a wonderful annoyance for Persephone! Hecate is very much in this book as she is the others, and we have Thanatos’s signature sarcasm to help push through the darker moments.
What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write and why?
There is a scene where Thanatos asks Lira to dance that is so romantic I teared up a little. I was working out a little date scene and the song “Long time Coming” by Caitlyn Smith came on. From there, the words poured out and it is one of my favorite scenes in the whole book.
Thank you very much for taking the time out of your busy schedule to take part in this interview.

(Blood of Saviors, #1)
Publication date: December 5th 2023
Genres: Adult, Fantasy, Romance

Synopsis:
She loves death.
He is Death.
Thanatos took a fifty-year vacation from his duties as Death, psychopomp of the Underworld.
Returning to Halcyon, he meets Lira, a professor of Thanatology with the ability to see souls . . and him.
Intrigued, he finds himself obsessed with learning about the woman who studies, and sees, death.
As he finds himself growing closer to the woman who has him fascinated for the first time in centuries, a devastating problem arises in both the mortal world and the Underworld.
People are no longer dying.
Thanatos and Lira now have a choice to make: each other or death itself.
*This is a spin off from the Reign of Goddesses series. Events from the Reign of Goddesses series are referenced in this book, so it is recommended to start there to best enjoy Reaper of Chaos.*

C.D. Britt began her writing journey when her husband told her she needed to use her excessive imagination to write stories as opposed to creating a daily narrative for him. Ever since she penned her first words, life has been a lot more peaceful for him.
She currently resides in Texas where she has yet to adapt to the heat. Her husband thrives in it, so unfortunately, they will not be relocating to colder climates anytime soon.
Their two young children would honestly complain either way.
When she is not in her writing cave (hiding from the sun), she enjoys ignoring the world as much as her children will allow with a good book, music, and vast amounts of coffee (until it’s time for wine).
C.D. Britt is the author of Shadows & Vines, Sirens & Leviathans, and the upcoming book, Storms & Embers.
All three books are part of the Reign of Goddesses series.
