Just when I thought I'd finally gotten my life back on track, the unexpected happens.

It's the annual Night Festival in Hollow Cove, a paranormal festival extravaganza that lasts for five nights and features a multitude of powerful faces in our paranormal circles.

There's only one little problem. Someone ends up dead. And I'm the one accused of murder.

As my life spirals down the crapper once again, things between me and Marcus are even more confusing than ever before - hot - but ridiculously confusing. And to add to my wondrous good fortune - something or someone is trying to kill me.

So, what is a witch do to? Find the culprit and clear my name, that's what.

Midnight Spells is book two in the Witches of Hollow Cove series by Kim Richardson and narrated by Devon Sorvari

Tessa is accused of murder and someone is also trying to murder her. She has to solve the murder and stay alive. A ghost goat is hanging around and only she can see it. What does this mean?

I enjoyed listening to Midnight Spells. I very much enjoy the audio and find that the audio moves the story along. Tessa finds herself involved in the most bizarre situations and somehow finds a way to get out of them too.

I wasn’t expecting the twist on who to blame for everything that happens. I will say Tessa was a bit reckless in this one. At times I like her and other times I’m frustrated with her actions. I do enjoy a strong personality, but I also find it frustrating. She didn’t stop and think. She just jumps in and damn the consequences.

I do have to say her Vampire Friend is a hoot. He brings levity to the story and lights things up. I really enjoy him.

As for the romance, we finally get that first hot as sin kiss, but nothing after that. We focus on the murder mystery. To be honest, I get mixed signals about the romance and I’m not sure if Marcus likes her or not.

Also the Aunts are a lot of fun. They don’t try to rein in Tessa, which at times I think they should have. They do add humor to the storyline.

Audio: I’m enjoying the audio for the Witches of Hollow Cove. I find the voices fit the characters. The pacing is nice. I plan to continue the series in audio. Hopefully my library has them all.

Overall, I enjoyed the cozy mystery in Midnight Spells.
