Today I’m very lucky to be interviewing Daisy Landish author of Wine and Whispers.

Hi Daisy, thank you for agreeing to this interview.

Please share a few fun facts about yourself:

I’m a tea enthusiast who has perfected the art of dunking shortbread biscuits without losing them in the cup. I’ve also had the joy of visiting Europe’s wine regions, and while the Douro Valley in Portugal holds my heart, Sonoma is giving it a run for its money. Lastly, I believe every writer needs a sassy friend like Oliver in their corner—my editor is my cheerleader and occasional reality check.

Who are your favorite authors? Why?

Jane Austen tops my list for her sharp wit and timeless insight into human relationships. I’m also inspired by Agatha Christie’s intricate mysteries, where every detail counts, and by Julia Quinn for crafting romances that sparkle with humor and heart. These authors balance charm and depth, something I aim to bring to my own writing.

What types of scenes are your most favorite to write?

I love writing moments where food and emotion intersect—like a tense conversation over a bottle of wine or the warmth of a new friendship sparked by a shared meal. These scenes bring my characters closer to each other and reveal their layers in a way that feels authentic.

Please share a few fun facts about the book:

Wine and Whispers was inspired by my own fascination with farm-to-table culture and the stories behind each vineyard. Many of the dishes and wines Sophie encounters were inspired by meals I’ve enjoyed or dreamed of tasting. Also, readers might notice subtle nods to Sonoma’s rich history tucked into the dialogue and setting descriptions.

Without revealing too much, what is your favorite scene in the book?

There’s a scene where Sophie uncovers a major clue while sharing a meal with Claire and James at the vineyard. The flavors, the tension, and the unspoken emotions at the table blend to create a moment that’s as rich as the wine they’re drinking.

Using just 5 words, how would you describe your novel?

Mystery, resilience, flavor, secrets, discovery.
