I'm done with humans.

Macey may be a top-notch detective, but she doesn't realize how fragile she is. How dangerous my world can be…

Demons lurk in the shadows, and I don't have time to babysit a human. But my wolf would beg to differ.

Instinct tells me to protect her above all else, but what can I do? She isn't mine to protect no matter what my wolf wants…

Fated mates. Forbidden love. A steamy shifter paranormal romance you can sink your teeth into.

Werewolves Only is book one in the Crescent City Wolf Pack series by Carrie Pulkinen. I picked this one up as a freebie.

Luke is an Alpha, but to me he wasn’t Alpha enough. His anguish and issues just didn’t work well. For him to take over the Alpha petition in the pack he has to marry a werewolf and he thinks Macey is human, so at the end he says he would leave his pack for Macey, but to me it wasn’t convincing enough.

I never found myself truly engaged in the characters and what was happening. I didn’t care for Luke or Macey. Luke kept leaving a lot of things out and not telling the full story to Macey.

Macey is portrayed as a strong woman who gives off confidence, but her issues contradicted this. I do get why she doesn’t want to open up especially when two of the three people in her life are dead. It was frustrating how much she wavers.

The New Orleans setting was cool. I like that.

As for the hunt for the demons and stopping the killings, that didn’t make up for all the frustration in the romance department that I had. I expected more.

All and all Werewolves Only just didn’t’ hit it off with me. It had its good and interesting things, but the romance and leads killed the novel for me. I don’t think I’ll be continuing on in the Crescent City Wolf Pack series.

  1. Yeah, being an Alpha or described as confident is part of who the person is so I can see how behavior and actions not matching would take you out of the story
