The Edge lies between worlds, on the border between the Broken, where people shop at Wal-Mart and magic is a fairy tale—and the Weird, where blueblood aristocrats rule, changelings roam, and the strength of your magic can change your destiny…

Charlotte de Ney is as noble as they come, a blueblood straight out of the Weird. But even though she possesses rare magical healing abilities, her life has brought her nothing but pain. After her marriage crumbles, she flees to the Edge to build a new home for herself. Until Richard Mar is brought to her for treatment, and Charlotte’s life is turned upside down once again.

Richard is a swordsman without peer, future head of his large and rambunctious Edger clan—and he’s on a clandestine quest to wipe out slavers trafficking humans in the Weird. So when his presence leads his very dangerous enemies to Charlotte, she vows to help Richard destroy them. The slavers’ operation, however, goes deeper than Richard knows, and even working together, Charlotte and Richard may not survive...

I’m taking part in the 2025 Read-Along for The Edge series & Innkeeper Chronicles by Ilona Andrews hosted by Books of My Heart.

I listened to Steel’s Edge for the first time. My original thoughts from my read still apply. The audiobook is an excellent listen. Renée Raudman narration is smooth, exhilarating, and brings the emotions and story to life. I really loved the audiobook.

5 Steel’s Edge Stars

Steel’s Edge is book four in The Edge series by Ilona Andrews. This is the final book in this series and I am sad to see it end. I have become so immersed in the world and characters that where created for The Edge series.

Steel’s Edge is full of adventure, humor, and romance. I could not put it down, I devoured this book from beginning to end. This was by far the best in the series and I’m glad it ended so well. We get a fantastic world of the Edge and the Weird.

Charlotte and Richard were great characters. I was not sure how well Charlotte would do as a healer, but the writing team really surprised me with her abilities and the fit against slavery. I loved Richard from his first introduction in Bayou Moon. Their journey together had so many emotional highs and lows, that when these two did come together it was so sweet and passionate.

I can’t forget George and Jack; I have loved these two since the moment they came into play in On the Edge and was glad to once again see them play a fairly big part on the pages.

This is another winner from the Andrews team. I can always count on them to bring adventure, humor, and fantastically interesting characters and world to life. I do hope they some day come back to this series; maybe give us a book on Sophie, George, and Jack since we have watched them grow from children to teenagers. I highly recommend giving The Edge a try.

About Ilona Andrews

“Ilona Andrews” is the pseudonym for a husband-and-wife writing team. Ilona is a native-born Russian and Gordon is a former communications sergeant in the U.S. Army. Contrary to popular belief, Gordon was never an intelligence officer with a license to kill, and Ilona was never the mysterious Russian spy who seduced him. They met in college, in English Composition 101, where Ilona got a better grade. (Gordon is still sore about that.)

Gordon and Ilona currently reside in Texas with their two children and many dogs and cats.

They have co-authored several bestselling series, including the #1 NYT bestselling urban fantasy of Kate Daniels, rustic fantasy of the Edge, paranormal romance of Hidden Legacy, and Innkeeper Chronicles, which they post as a free weekly serial. 1. I’m really enjoying the Read-along, not just because I love Ilona Andrews. It’s also because it is so great to read these loosely related series all together instead of spread out over 10-15 years. I hope you are enjoying them. The Graphic Audio is a brand new thing for me this year and the Innkeeper books are quick and fun that way.

    1. It’s been a while since I read/listen to The Edge series. A few of The Edge books like this one are new to me for audio. I bought, but never listened until now. ^_^ It’s been fun revisiting. I’m now onto the Innkeeper Chronicles to listen to the GraphicAudios which are a lot fun and shorter then the original audio version. Thanks for hosting the read-along and visiting!
