Monthly Wrap Up

Angel’s Monthly Wrap Up ~ Feb. 2026

A peek into the Nook: February’s magic and mayhem. Grab a cozy drink and settle in for this month’s highlights.

The first week of February I highlighted the news that February is National Library Lovers Month? ♥️ It’s no secret that I’m all about the library. It’s my go-to spot for discovering amazing new worlds and untold histories. Love, love, love my library and the magic it brings to my reading life!

We had our Contractor and his handyman visit to do some fixes. When you own a home you keep a running list of things that need to be fixed and a few items only professionals can do or you feel it’s better for them to do it, so we got a few items off our list.

The Gardner comes every two weeks to mow, clean, and keep our plants alive. I also have the cleaning ladies come the first of the month. I love cleaning day! The house smells so nice and everything is so clean. Other then that it was a nice slow week.

During the second week of February, I came up with a fun new idea for our ❤️ Library Love Challenge! It’s the perfect way to honor Library Lover Month, provided my co-host is on board. Will see if we do it next year. I need to discuss.

I thought we might be done with the storms, but the rain 🌧️ has returned! At least it’s not stopping my husband; he’s officially back to refereeing soccer games now that his foot is fully healed. It’s been a long year of recovery, and it’s wonderful to see him so active and happy again.

I’m currently trailing behind on my “Vintage” listen for the #TBRChallenge. My house has been a little less quiet lately with the hubby home so much, which has definitely impacted my reading peace! To top it off, refereeing in the storms didn’t go well for him—he’s officially come down with a bug.

Valentine’s Day and Library Lover’s Day ❤️‍🔥 both fell on February 14th, and I hope your day was just as heartfelt! My husband and kiddo surprised me with a new plant that I absolutely adore. To top it off, I actually managed to get some much-needed me-time—the best gift of all!

The third week of February was defined by rain, rain, and more rain 🌧️! With three storm fronts rolling through, I hunkered down and spent Sunday and Monday (Presidents Day) getting lost in Baldur’s Gate 3. I’m finally on Act 3, and wow—it is a massive undertaking with all the side-quests and character arcs to explore!

Mid-week, I took our 16-year-old Prius in for some routine maintenance. As you can imagine with an older car, the dealership had a long list of recommendations, but we’re sticking to our plan of driving this reliable beauty until she finally gives up! On the bookish front, I finished my ‘Vintage’ read for the #TBRChallenge and managed to get the review written just a day before the deadline—a bit of a close call for me, as I usually like to stay a week ahead! The storms meant the kiddo’s tennis was canceled and my husband is still under the weather.

By the end of the week, my husband was finally on the mend, but the bug caught up with the kiddo, who had to miss school on Friday with a fever. Thankfully, it was short-lived! He was back on his feet just in time to join his dad for an AYSO Spring Soccer marathon. With four away games on the schedule, the boys were gone all weekend—and they crushed it, winning three out of the four matches! The silver lining for me? A blissfully quiet house. I managed to tackle my chores and log some serious, uninterrupted audiobook time, all while Panda 🐼 stepped up to provide plenty of cuddles in their absence.

The final week of February started off beautifully with sun ☀️ on Sunday and Monday, allowing Panda 🐼 and me to get outside for a lovely long walk—it felt great! Unfortunately, the rain 🌧️ returned on Tuesday evening, which was a bummer. It caused soccer practice to be canceled on Tuesday, and tennis on Wednesday as well.

I continued my marathon journey through Act 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3. My goodness, it is long! I finally completed the boss battle and finished the game on Wednesday evening. Since I played in “story rich” mode the first time around, I’m ready to dive back in on a harder difficulty.

Thursday brought dense fog 😶‍🌫️ to the Bay Area—you couldn’t even see across the street—but fog usually means we are finally warming up. Sure enough, the sun came back on Friday! It was such a lovely day, and I took another long walk with 🐼 Panda. For Saturday, the last day of February, I plan to just chill.

Blogger Makeover Alert! ✨ If the blog feels a bit different lately, your eyes aren’t deceiving you! I’ve given my banners a total glow-up to keep things looking fresh and fun here in the Nook.

Tech Update: I’ve leveled up my layout using The Ultimate BB plugin! 📚 I’ve figured out how to feature my reads by category and date, giving these wrap-ups a cleaner, more streamlined feel. I’m so glad I took the time to dive into the settings—it makes finding your next favorite book so much easier!

Let’s Chat! 💬 Along with the new look, I’m making a big effort to be more social and active with all of you lovely bookworms. I’m polishing up my posts to make them clearer and more fun to read—keep an eye out for some catchy new phrases! I can’t wait to hear what you think of the changes.

Platform Update: Last month, I mentioned giving Pagebound a try. 💻 I’m still undecided on Pagebound, though I’m still sharing my latest updates there for the time being. However, StoryGraph is winning me over with its incredible stats & tracking challenges! Of course, I’m still hanging out on Goodreads too.

When it comes to chatting, I’m staying right here on the blog. With so many social apps out there, it’s so hard to keep up with them all. It’s about finding which one truly works for your reading life.

🌟BIG ANNOUNCEMENT! My fellow book-lover, Super Librarian Wendy, just shared some major industry news: Harlequin Historical is officially closing its doors. 💔 You can check out her full post here—it is such a thoughtful read, and she makes some incredibly poignant points about the shift in the publishing world.

“For I am lamenting the demise of the genre thanks to TikTok, publishers not knowing what the hell they’re doing, and a world that has rendered most of us incapable of doing much outside of trudging through our daily existence hoping to keep our heads above water even as we all feel like slipping under.  Books can be a life preserver in a lot of ways, but the market is narrowing and shrinking, at least in traditional publishing spaces, and it doesn’t instill much hope. “
