Royal Alien Mate is the first book in the Savage Martians series by Sue Mercury. It’s a short, novella-length read that delivers a complete story in just a few hours. 🛸💙
This story leans into the “protective hero/inexperienced heroine” trope, centered around a marriage of convenience forced by Earth’s dire circumstances. The central conflict is heightened by a group of Martian insurgents who will stop at nothing to end the interspecies bride program for good.
While the plot follows a very predictable “insta-love” trajectory. I truly appreciated the depth of Vaath’s devotion to Esmay, and I found her “quiet strength” to be a refreshing take on the classic heroine.
It’s a quick, steamy read that doesn’t demand too much of you—perfect for when you just want a satisfying sci-fi escape.
