A chance meeting leads to a wild ride in this irresistible audio-first romance by Audie Award-nominated author Molly Harper!

Lia Doe came to Mystic Bayou for one simple reason: to get her job done. Namely, to build a housing complex for all the new residents flocking to town since word of its supernatural population got out. But from the moment Lia arrives, it’s clear that nothing about the job is going to be simple.

First, there’s the mysterious guy she meets in the middle of the night while they’re both cavorting in their alternate forms. Spending time with shape-shifters is nothing new to Lia, but there’s something special about Jon Carmody…and the magical pull she feels whenever he’s near. There’s also a sense of homecoming and belonging in Mystic Bayou that makes her want to stick around - despite the dangers brewing from mysterious forces.

Will Lia complete her project with her heart unscathed, or will her life shift forever?

I listened to this back in 2021.

Shifters in the Night is book seven in the Mystic Bayou series by Molly Harper and narrated by Amanda Ronconi and Jonathan Davis.

There is nothing quite like the atmosphere of Mystic Bayou and its cast of unusual supernatural residents. Returning to this series is always a highlight for me—I’m officially obsessed with this town and everyone in it!

Lia Doe, a deer shifter, arrives in Mystic Bayou to oversee a high-stakes housing development. Her first real introduction to the town happens during a midnight run in her shifter form, where she accidentally stumbles onto the property—and into the life—of Jon Carmody. Jon is a Selkie shifter and the somewhat hermit and brother to the town doctor, Will. Though he’s used to his solitude, Lia’s unexpected arrival shakes up his quiet world.

Lia and Jon share an instant connection, but the path to romance isn’t exactly smooth. Jon is a bit socially awkward and struggles with insecurities about his appearance, while Lia is buried in her work and hesitant to commit. The question is: can they overcome their personal hurdles to give love a real shot?

Audio: Following the trend of the previous Mystic Bayou books, this story uses a dual narrative that really elevates the experience. This format is a huge reason why I keep coming back to the audio versions! I loved the narration; both performers have an incredible talent for bringing a wide range of voices and accents to life.

Shifters in the Night is a total win. The mystery might have been easy to spot from a mile away, but honestly, the vibes in Mystic Bayou are so good I didn’t even mind. I’m looking forward to returning to Mystic Bayou.
