Nevada Baylor is faced with the most challenging case of her detective career—a suicide mission to bring in a suspect in a volatile case. Nevada isn't sure she has the chops. Her quarry is a Prime, the highest rank of magic user, who can set anyone and anything on fire.

Then she's kidnapped by Connor "Mad" Rogan—a darkly tempting billionaire with equally devastating powers. Torn between wanting to run or surrender to their overwhelming attraction, Nevada must join forces with Rogan to stay alive.

Rogan's after the same target, so he needs Nevada. But she's getting under his skin, making him care about someone other than himself for a change. And, as Rogan has learned, love can be as perilous as death, especially in the magic world.

Also in this series: White Hot, Wildfire, Diamond Fire, Sapphire Flames, Emerald Blaze, Ruby Fever

I am a BIG FAN of the writing team Ilona Andrews. I can always count on them to pull me into a magical world full of new dangers and fantastically interesting characters. They are my F*A*V*O*R*I*T*E authors and one of the few I will automatically purchase their books as soon as it’s available.

Burn for Me is book one in the Hidden Legacy series by Ilona Andrews and what a magnificent start to a new series. I have been looking forward to reading Burn for Me and I was not disappointed. We get humor, action, adventure, and romance.

Nevada is everything a lead heroine should be. Loyal, smart, witty, and kick ass even with the little power she has. She has been working hard to keep the family PI business going and is very protective of her family. I loved Nevada right off.

Connor “Mad” Rogan, a Prime (off-the-charts magic), rich, powerful, and head of House Rogan. He is pure sex walking on a stick. The House’s rule this world, in a way with their own rules. As for Connor I never could figure him out even at the end and I am hoping more is revealed about him. He is a sociopath (Yes a sociopath) and I don’t know if Nevada should love him or run screaming.

What can I say. This is one you don’t want to miss reading. The author creates instantly likable characters, that are hilarious and have great dynamics between them. Nevada’s grandmother was a hoot. The world-building is awe-inspiring and original. We are spared no shortage on the action or plot developments. The writing flows nicely and they do an extraordinary job of describing things in great detail. Burn for Me was a delightful, hilarious, and action packed read.

If you have not picked up Ilona Andrews, I highly recommend you do. I have loved and enjoyed all of Ilona Andrews written works. They have not once let me down and I wait with great anticipation for the next installment.

Update:

Aug. 2017 Audio Review ~ I tried out the audiobook and I found it to be entertaining, enjoyable, & a fun listen. I did have trouble with the female narrator and her male voices at first, but I got used to them. She had a lot of characters she needed to voice and I felt she did a good job.
I rate the Audio Version 4 Stars.

About Ilona Andrews

“Ilona Andrews” is the pseudonym for a husband-and-wife writing team. Ilona is a native-born Russian and Gordon is a former communications sergeant in the U.S. Army. Contrary to popular belief, Gordon was never an intelligence officer with a license to kill, and Ilona was never the mysterious Russian spy who seduced him. They met in college, in English Composition 101, where Ilona got a better grade. (Gordon is still sore about that.)

Gordon and Ilona currently reside in Texas with their two children and many dogs and cats.

They have co-authored several bestselling series, including the #1 NYT bestselling urban fantasy of Kate Daniels, rustic fantasy of the Edge, paranormal romance of Hidden Legacy, and Innkeeper Chronicles, which they post as a free weekly serial. For complete list of their books, fun extras, and Innkeeper installments, please visit their website at Ilona-andrews.com.

    1. Oh ya Anna. It pulls you in. I can’t wait for the next one. I really want to see what happens with our leads and I’m curious on Connor “Mad” Rogan character direction. I liked him and you can tell he has more depth to him, but he does come off as a sociopath, but a better/nicer one then the Fire dude (evil guy).

  1. I’m slowly making my way though all things Ilona Andrews. I can cross their Kate Daniels, and The Edge series’ off my list. Now I just have this one & their Innkeepers Chronicles. I’ve already put aside an Audible credit for Burn For Me. Soon my pretty! I only skimmed your review because I know nothing about this new universe, and I want to keep it that way ’til the time comes.

    1. Hi Carmel, Great to see you stoping bye. I still need to finish the last book in The Edge series then I will be caught up in all things Ilona Andrews. I tired for a no spoiler review. I think the only area that might say something is the character section but other then that it’s a spoiler free review. You should enjoy this new series. Can’t wait to see what you think. I saw that Jessica enjoyed it!

  2. Hi Melanie, It’s always nice having you drop bye. Ya the writing team is amazing and I have no dough I will continue to love everything they put out. I liked the secondary characters too. Grandma was lots of fun. I can’t wait to see what happens next and I want more on Rogan. Even though I’m not sure what to make of him I always felt like their was more to him then the sociopath side we see. ^_^

  3. I just so loved this book. Not that I was surprised by this. I’ve loved everything that Ilona Andrews has put out so far. And per usual for me, the characters that stand out in my mind are the secondary characters, Bug and Grandma. 🙂
