New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh returns to her world of dark passion and immortal power—and to one of the most seductive and impenetrable heroes ever to stalk the Guild Hunter landscape…

“Oh, Naasir. So weird, so bloodthirsty, so unique and wonderful…I have fallen for him…”—Fiction Vixen

Naasir is the most feral of the powerful group of vampires and angels known as the Seven, his loyalty pledged to the Archangel Raphael. When rumors surface of a plot to murder the former Archangel of Persia, now lost in the Sleep of the Ancients, Naasir is dispatched to find him. For only he possesses the tracking skills required—those more common to predatory animals than to man.

Enlisted to accompany Naasir, Andromeda, a young angelic scholar with dangerous secrets, is fascinated by his nature—at once playful and brilliant, sensual and brutal. As they race to find the Sleeping archangel before it’s too late, Naasir will force her to question all she knows…and tempt her to walk into the magnificent, feral darkness of his world. But first they must survive an enemy vicious enough to shatter the greatest taboo of the angelic race and plunge the world into a screaming nightmare…

Archangel’s Enigma is book eight in the Guild Hunter series by Nalini Singh.

This series needs to be read in order. Each book builds on the other. Going deeper into the world and characters.

Up until now we haven’t gotten much on Naasir. So, it was a pleasure to dig deeper into this wild, beautiful, and lethal character. He has earned his place among Raphael’s Seven.

In Archangel’s Enigma we get to go on a search for a secret sleeping place of an Archangel; before an enemy destroys this Angel. Naasir gets help from Andromeda a scholar, but she is much more. I liked Andromeda. She is knowledgeable, but also has a backbone and it was nice to see this.

I fell for Naasir. He’s playful and inquisitive. He started out looking for his mate. Like it was the next logical step in his life. So when he meets Andromeda, it was a very fun and playful scene. One thing I really liked about him is his unshakable devotion and love to his family.

The romance was a nice slow build bring Naasir and Andromeda together with a loving connection; before a physical relationship starts. The slow build was perfect for this couple. The search for the sleeping Archangel takes these characters on an adventure into different continents. We also get to see new and familiar faces. The Cascade is still doing it’s scary thing and no one knows what will happen next.

As always their is no shortage of action and adventure. The characters are vibrant, gritty, and unique. The plot is exceptional and unrivaled. I’m curious to see where things go from here and who will be matched next.

About Nalini Singh

I’ve been writing as long as I can remember and all of my stories always held a thread of romance (even when I was writing about a prince who could shoot lasers out of his eyes). I love creating unique characters, love giving them happy endings and I even love the voices in my head. There’s no other job I would rather be doing. In September 2002, when I got the call that Silhouette Desire wanted to buy my first book, Desert Warrior, it was a dream come true. I hope to continue living the dream until I keel over of old age on my keyboard.

I was born in Fiji and raised in New Zealand. I also spent three years living and working in Japan, during which time I took the chance to travel around Asia. I’m back in New Zealand now, but I’m always plotting new trips. If you’d like to see some of my travel snapshots, have a look at the Travel Diary page (updated every month).

So far, I’ve worked as a lawyer, a librarian, a candy factory general hand, a bank temp and an English teacher and not necessarily in that order. Some might call that inconsistency but I call it grist for the writer’s mill.

  1. After seeing Naasir in the books prior to this one, I didn’t feel like he was “mature” enough to have a romance. I was worried it would feel like a kid trying to be an adult. But leave it to the master, Nalini keeps his playful, unique persona while making him romance material.

    1. Ya, I can see how you would feel that way. He was kinda kid like, but Singh did an amazing job with Naasir. I liked his playful and uniqueness.

  2. This is probably my favorite book in the series. I really loved Naasir. He was such an interesting character. Andromeda is a great strong woman too. Gotta love a woman with brains. Singh just posted the title for the next book, we get to learn more about Venom! Woohoo! Great review.

    1. I know I saw that post and was excited to find out who’s book we get next. I don’t have a favorite yet. I like them all and find them each unique and interesting. I like that they are all different and each women seams to complement the male in someway. The series is fun and enjoyable. The Psy-Changeleing is still my favorite series by Singh, but I’m very much enjoying the Guild Hunter series.

    1. It took me all of 2016 and Jan 2017 to get caught up on the Guild Hunter series. So many bloggers/book lovers recommend the series and I made a goal of reading it last year. They are good. Each a different and unique. Thank’s for stoping by and checking out my review! Glad you like it.
