He may slither and hiss. But he’s all man where it counts.

Rule Number One if you’re a human woman on the alien hell world of Protheka: Don’t ever stop running.

Because if the orcs that burned your village stop chasing you, that means you strayed into Nagaland – the territory of the fiercest nightmares on the planet.

Their scales and forked tongues will mesmerize you as they catch you. You’ll end up like me – a pet to a naga general. He’ll parade you through his camp as his human female trophy as his eyes roam your very curvy, very human body.

But you won’t mind one bit.

Because he killed the orcs that burned your village. He fed you. Gave you clothes. Comfort. Security.
He gave you medicine to heal your body and gave you a bed to sleep in peacefully for the first time in your life.

But most of all…

He gave you his heart.

The Naga’s Mate by Celeste King

The Naga’s Mate is book one in the Naga’s of Protheka series by Celeste King.

This is my first taste of King and the Protheka world. I ended up enjoying this one more than I thought; thou I’m a bit confused on the legs.

The Naga are snake-men??, but the author gave them legs, so I had a hard time believing the way they moved and fought. The author would mention the sound of the dragging snake tail, but then talk about them wearing trousers. The Naga felt more like lizards than snakes. It was just weird.

The Naga’s Mate is a hot monster alien romance with a dash of suspense, a little drama, some betrayal and romance. There’s a bit of instant attraction and lust which turns into more. They feel something, but our Naga doesn’t figure it out until our human is in danger; then he knows what she is to him. Our hero was sweet. He loved our heroine as a person, which in the world of Protheka is unusual. I liked that both were willing to sacrifice for each other.

The Naga’s Mate was a quick and enjoyable read. Not something I’d read again, but still peaked my interested enough to have me picking up book two.

About Celeste King

Celeste King is the author behind the Worlds of Protheka, a collection of interconnected series that promise dark fantasy, intense romance, and washboard abs. When it comes to her stories, there are sure to brooding alphas, sassy humans, and plenty of spice to look forward to.

With the ever growing fantasy worlds, the ‘what ifs’ are endless, and that is what excites her the most. Even she doesn’t know just how far these characters will go, but she’s gladly along for the ride.

You can always find her fearlessly diving into an adventure (in this world or another), typically with her husband, and partner in crime, at her side.

She helps keep the excitement alive for the rest us with each of her Prothekan works, where there are no heroes coming to save you and being kidnapped…isn’t so bad when your captor is this hot.
