My name’s Stacy, but you can call me Inspector Wise. As part of the Connection—the magical law enforcement keeping the supernatural under wraps—I deal with the grittiest magical crimes. The Other Realm is a Vampire-eat-Werewolf kind of world, and only the toughest survive. Fortunately, I’ve got a rare magical I can slip into minds and make people dance to my tune. It's frowned upon to do that though, so I keep my talents more hidden than Area 51.
My job? Investigate magical murders and cover them up. There's no shortage of murders to solve, so I get myself a greener-than-green detective to be the Robin to my Batman, which is a problem because I don't play nicely with others.
Ogres, corpses, and a rising death toll spell trouble—especially when the Ogre King keeps appearing at my crime scenes. But is he responsible for the bodies hitting the floor, or is his interest something else entirely?
Then a body turns up with a personal a threat aimed at me. Now, it’s a race against time to find the killer… before I’m next.
Immerse yourself in The Other Detective Series —perfect for fans of fast-paced, witty paranormal police procedurals, complete with a fierce heroine, gripping murder mysteries, and a slow-burn fated-mates romance.

Veiled Justice is book one in The Other Detective series by Heather G. Harris and narrated by Alyse Gibbs.
I devoured this audiobook that is full of Magic, Murder, and a Hotter than Hot Ogre King!
Veiled Justice delivers a gripping mystery with heart, humor, wonderful banter, suspense, a cocky sidekick bird, and other cool characters. It’s full of rich world building, mystery, magical politics, and a slow-burn romance.
I didn’t know before going into this that it’s part of The Other World that Harris has written about. You don’t have to read those other series to enjoy this thrilling new series in the same world.
Stacy is a strong female lead. She’s brilliant, smart, capable and a badass detective. The High King of the Ogres is strong, powerful, capable, and sexy as hell.
The mystery kept me hooked, and I loved learning about the ogre culture. Loki, our sidekick bird companion of Stacy’s, is rude, hilarious, and sweet in his own way.
Veiled Justice is a fast-paced magical listen. You quickly come to love all the characters and I can’t wait to dive into book two, Mystic Justice.
Audio: Alyse Gibbs did a superb job with her narration of Veiled Justice. I fell into the story and gobbled it up. Her voices are distinctive, clear, and fit each character. She brings out their personalities and keeps the pace flowing smoothly. I highly recommend the audiobook.

Thanks Lisa for checking out my review. I enjoyed this more then I was expecting to and plan to listen on in the series.
Nice new series find. The cocky bird sounds like a hoot.
The bird was a fun character. I need to find the novella that introduces him. I’d like to know how he attached himself to Stacy
