A drowned dryad. Ritual markings. A killer who isn’t finished.

They pulled her from the lake – young, beautiful, and very, very dead. As Chester’s only magical Detective Inspector, I get the cases the Common police can’t handle, and this one has Other Realm written all over it.

When the medical examiner discovers runes carved into the corpse’s bones, I know we’re in for a bumpy ride. Elemental runes. First victim drowned. My gut says there’s more coming, and my gut is rarely wrong.

Then a centaur drops out of the sky, literally, and my theory’s confirmed. The only link between the victims? Botany, a vampire-owned bar that serves the magical and the mundane… and never seems short of trouble.

I’ve got a new unit at my back, Unit 13, and we’re still figuring out how to work together. Add Krieg, the King of Ogres – deadly, smart, and far too good at getting under my skin – and things get complicated fast. With a killer on the loose and the clock ticking, we’ll have to move quickly… or the next body that drops may well be one of ours.

Immerse yourself in The Other Detective Series – perfect for fans of supernatural crime, complete with a fierce heroine, gritty murder investigations, and a slow-burn romance.

Another stellar addition!

Mystic Justice is book two in The Other Detective series by Heather G. Harris and narrated by Alyse Gibbs.

The story kicks off with a grim opening that plunges readers into a high-stakes murder mystery. As the body count rises, Stacy Wise returns to investigate a case fueled by dark magic and necromancy. She is once again accompanied by the stunning Ogre King, Krieg, and her caladrius companion, Loki, who seems uncharacteristically out of sorts.

From black witchcraft and possessed vampires to traumatized trees and illegal potions, the narrative is packed with supernatural intrigue. With Stacy working alongside a new team, the plot weaves through gruesome crimes, mistreatment of imps, delivering a dark and complex urban fantasy.

The character dynamics reach new heights as the “slow-burn” tension between Stacy and Krieg continues to simmer beautifully. Beyond the central murder mystery, the deep emotional threads and genuine character growth throughout the cast kept me completely hooked.

Audio: Gibbs continues to deliver a masterful performance, bringing The Other Detective series to life with superb narration. From the opening scene to the final word, the combination of rich character work and a gripping plot kept me completely captivated. By the time the story concluded, I was already eager to start the next audiobook.

Mystic Justice is a fast-paced, witty, and exhilarating ride that is a total joy to experience. I am already counting down the days until the next installment is released in audio!

About Heather G. Harris

Heather is an urban fantasy writer and mum. She was born and raised near Windsor, which gave her the misguided impression that she was close to royalty in some way. She is not, though she once got a letter from the Queen’s lady-in-waiting.

Heather went to university in Liverpool, where she took up skydiving and met her future husband. When she’s not running around after her children, she’s plotting her next book and daydreaming about vampires, dragons and kick-ass heroines.

Heather loves to travel and once spent a month in Thailand. Thai food remains a firm family favourite. It goes without saying that Heather is a book lover. She grew up reading the likes of Brian Jacques and Anne McCaffrey.
