Katie Bishop would have taken her secret to the grave, but . . .
a bunch of fat cat society folks smelled her out and made her an offer she couldn't refuse.

Katie just wants to run her tattoo business quietly under the radar. But when a man walks into her shop and hands her a drawing of the same tattoo she's been dreaming about for weeks, things start to spin out of control. The last two people who tried to apply that tattoo are dead.

Only half human, it's her other half that an elite group wants to hire-a group of Savannah's more privileged citizens, including the city's reigning coven of witches.

There's a rogue god on the loose, and Katie is the only one who can send him back to hell before he breaks open the crossroads and lets the underworld waltz right in-if he manages to get that deadly tattoo inked onto his back.

Crossroads of Bones is book one in the Katie Bishop series by Luanne Bennett.

I snagged this as a freebie in 2019 but didn’t get around to reading it until 2022. It features a cast of flamboyant characters and some truly engaging plot twists.

Katie Bishop is a compelling lead—charismatic, resilient, and possessed of a few distinct traits that truly set her apart from her peers. However, a hidden vulnerability from her past leaves her blind to an approaching threat, one that ultimately lands her in the council’s crosshairs.  I liked her and her tattoo shop.

The novel maintains a steady, compelling pace that keeps readers hooked through a blend of intrigue and well-timed thrills. While it isn’t a relentless action-fest, the story is punctuated by exciting events and clever twists that ensure there is never a dull moment.

This story is packed with personality! You’ll find everything from a disgraced cop and a mysterious biker to secret societies and African hoo-doo. The cast is wonderfully eclectic, featuring cross-dressing black men and a “not-what-they-seem” bar staff, all set against a town run by a sneering older antagonist. I particularly loved the unique, clever spin the author took on a new kind of shifter.

The chemistry with her love interest moved a little too fast for my taste, though I suppose that’s what happens when you’re busy trying to stop a literal deity from seizing power.

Crossroads of Bones was a fun read, but I don’t feel an urgent need to dive into the next book. Maybe when I get Kindle Unlimited again I’ll read on.

    1. Yep, will see if I return. Haven’t seen this series at my library and I currently don’t have KU. It’s ok I’m not chomping at the bit to read on. Theirs so much to read and enjoy. Thanks for visiting and checking out my review on this freebie.
