Monthly Wrap Up

Angel’s Monthly Wrap Up ~ March 2026

A peek into the Nook: March’s magic and mayhem. Grab a cozy drink and settle in for this month’s highlights.

The first week of March was a total whirlwind! Between the start of Spring AYSO soccer and an away game, I unfortunately missed our read-along chat. However, it was a week of big milestones: we celebrated our 18th Wedding Anniversary with a lovely family dinner. Life is changing at home, too—my husband has officially retired! He’s diving into new projects like game development and writing, so we’ll see what the future holds. On the bookish side, I’ve been powering through audiobooks, which has been fabulous. Plus, the weather finally cleared up, allowing me to spend some quality time chilling on the front porch with Panda.

Week two flew by, though the time change on the 8th definitely hit different this year. Adjusting to that lost hour is getting tougher with every passing year! On a brighter note, it was the first full week of my husband’s retirement. To celebrate, we headed downtown to try a new lunch spot. Even though we’ve lived here for seven years, we usually stick to our two favorite places or just rely on HelloFresh and delivery. We’ve realized there are so many restaurants we’ve never explored, so our new goal is to try one new local eatery every week!

The weather also did a total 180, hitting a gorgeous 80 degrees by the weekend. I traded my desk for the garden, soaking up the sun while planning out this year’s planting.

The biggest milestone this week was the Local High School Open House. It’s official: the kid is heading into 9th grade this fall! Navigating the scheduling and class options was a bit overwhelming for both of us, but I was so impressed by the guidance offered for college prep. The elective list alone is incredible—far beyond the basic Choir or Art I had in school. They offer everything from Architectural Design and Engineering Technology to Innovations in Green Technology. Even the language options are impressive, with choices like Chinese and Japanese alongside Spanish. Living in the Bay Area definitely has its perks; the campus is stunning and the student support was top-notch.

To wrap up the week, Spring AYSO is in full swing with practices twice a week and games on the weekends. Since the hubby is home now, he and the kid have been out practicing footwork every single day. It’s a busy season, but a good one!

The third week of March brought an unexpected heat wave, with temperatures soaring over 85°F all week! While I’m a sun-seeker, even I have to admit this is a bit wild for March. I’ve been making the most of it by spending my mornings outdoors and taking Panda on extra-long walks—which she absolutely loved. I also managed to get the birdfeeders cleaned, and I’ve already had some lovely feathered visitors swinging by.

It was a relatively slow week for audiobooks; I started our next read-along, Taming Demons for Beginners, on Monday and didn’t wrap it up until Saturday. It’s a short listen, just took me a while with my busy week to get through it! Tuesday was the highlight of the week—a true “spa day” for both Panda and me. While she was getting pampered at the groomers, I treated myself to some relaxation, too.

We’ve been spending our evenings playing Slay the Spire II on Steam. It’s been such a fantastic family activity; since our son is a teenager now, finding a game we all enjoy is a huge win. We’re also big fans of the original and the board game version. I’m feeling very lucky that, even in the teen years, he still genuinely wants to hang out with us!

The final week of March was a quiet one, primarily spent prepping for a Spring Break getaway to Florida with my kid. By the end of the week, we were trading the Bay Area for the sunshine state! Friday and Saturday were absolute perfection—the weather was gorgeous, giving me some much-needed “me time” to just chill by the pool. With my earbuds in, I spent the afternoons soaking up the sun and floating away into a few fantastic stories.

  1. Congrats to your husband on his retirement! My Argyle was loving all the sun this past week too. Can’t help but take pictures every time they’re laying in the sun, lol. I do need to give Libro.fm a try I think. Hope April is good for us all!

    1. Thanks, Lisa! It has been such a big change having my husband home all the time now. We were home together during COVID, of course, but this feels completely different!

Panda is definitely a sun-seeker; I can’t help but snap pictures of her every time she finds a good sunny spot. Thanks so much for visiting the Nook, and I hope you have a wonderful April as well!
