When a fledgling vampire arrives at Woolworth House searching for his maker, Grier is forced to relive her time in Atramentous. Most of those years are as dark and empty in her memory as she was in her cell. She can't remember her progeny, or the night she resuscitated him, but she can protect him from the Society. As long as she's willing to barter with her grandfather to do it.

But Lacroix has plans of his own. He envisions the city--her city--under his rule, and Grier under his thumb. Now all he needs is the right leverage to force her cooperation, and he has just the person in mind. Grier is ready to trade her freedom until a grim truth is revealed that splits her heart in two. Yet another person she loves has betrayed her, and Grier is left agonizing over how much of their relationship is real and how much was a lie.

Also in this series: How to Save an Undead Life, How to Claim an Undead Soul, How to Break an Undead Heart, How to Dance an Undead Waltz, How to Wake an Undead City, The Epilogues: How to Kiss an Undead Bride

How to Live an Undead Lie starts about a week after the end of the last book. Their are many secrets revealed, Odette is missing, and Corbin her prodigy has come knocking on her door. What will Grier do?

Grier keeps her head even when others betray her and have no problem doing it. I think it’s time she starts fighting back, because others in her life have no problem screwing her over. I was happy to see Grier continue to learn about her world, make her own choices, and develop her relationships.

Linus and Grier are dating and their relationship is progress nicely. I really like Linus. He gives Grier the time she needs to move the relationship along and doesn’t pressure her. The every looming sadness that Linus will leave her; because she isn’t good enough is present. Will they be together or not?

I like the side characters; except I’m done, just done, with the Pritchards. They need to go.

How to Live an Undead Lie is another delightful addition to the series. I was pulled in from begging to end and couldn’t believe the betrayal that happened. I can’t wait to see what’s next; because this one ends on a cliffhanger.

About Hailey Edwards

USA Today best-selling author Hailey Edwards writes about questionable applications of otherwise perfectly good magic, the transformative power of love, the family you choose for yourself, and blowing stuff up. Not necessarily all at once. That could get messy.

  1. I gave up on this series after the third book. I just had too many issues. But I know soooo many who love it – and that makes me happy. Glad to see Grier is finally finding a bit of happiness. The Pritchards are part of the reason I left the series. I hope for your sake that they do go!

    1. I’ve had the same issue where a series didn’t work for me, but everyone else really likes it. Thank’s Jen, for stopping in and sharing your thoughts. I am don’t with the Pritchards.

    1. I think you will like the series. Not sure on audio since I haven’t listened to the books, only read, but very much enjoying. Thank’s for visiting.

  2. I read this even though I have been listening on audio. I am going to review the audio when it is released. I continue to enjoy this series but Grier can hardly catch a break.

Yeah I’m done with the Pritchards too! Excellent review.

    1. I agree Grier can’t catch a break and the Pritchards so need to go. Thank’s for visiting. Can’t wait to see what you think of this book.

    1. ^_^ It’s a another fun one, though I’m not happy we end off on a cliffhanger. Yes, the Prichards I’ve had enough off.
