Changes is book twelve in The Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher
To start; the title, CHANGES, tells you what this book is about. So many unexpected changes, surprises, shocks, and twists happen that the reader is wondering what is next. Butcher continues to deliver. It’s an action-paced emotionally charged read.
Things in The Dresden world are about to change for everyone. All the races and factions will see change. No one is safe from all the consequences and actions that take place, not even Harry.
Harry has never had it easy in his life and here is no exception. He gets a call out of the blue that will shock and change his life and priorities.
Susan. I’ve never liked her; actually I hate her. She’s popped up throughout the series bouncing in and out of Harry’s life, but this time she calls with a big surprise. Her secret has put Harry into a very precocious situation and sealed her and others fates in the series.
As always I love Harry’s friends. They are the best! They have stuck with him through think or thin. This time around the stakes are higher and his friends could lose their lives, but even with that possibility they never back away and help him out.
Last, I was hoping for Murphy and Harry to finally hook up. It looked like it might happen until the author shocks use with his ending. Leaving the reader reeling and wondering whether Harry will be back.
Buckle up; because once you start you won’t want to stop. I cried, laughed, yelled, and cheered. I love this Urban Fantasy series. It delivers each and every time.

Jim Butcher is the author of the Dresden Files, the Codex Alera, and a new steampunk series, the Cinder Spires. His resume includes a laundry list of skills which were useful a couple of centuries ago, and he plays guitar quite badly. An avid gamer, he plays tabletop games in varying systems, a variety of video games on PC and console, and LARPs whenever he can make time for it. Jim currently resides mostly inside his own head, but his head can generally be found in his home town of Independence, Missouri.
Jim goes by the moniker Longshot in a number of online locales. He came by this name in the early 1990′s when he decided he would become a published author. Usually only 3 in 1000 who make such an attempt actually manage to become published; of those, only 1 in 10 make enough money to call it a living. The sale of a second series was the breakthrough that let him beat the long odds against attaining a career as a novelist.
All the same, he refuses to change his nickname.

Oh this one… this really is the start of the changes. SOOO GOOD!!! I have to say, I liked Susan, and there was a lot of great emotion in this one – at the climatic scene. I like her, but I do want Dresden and Murphy together, certainly! Great review.
I’ve always thought Murphy is a better choice then Susan for Dresden. Ya, this one is the one that changes everything. It was so good! Thank’s for visiting.
This one was amazing! Don’t miss the short story from Murphy’s POV in Side Jobs before going on to Ghost Story. This series is one of my favorites. I have purchased the entire thing on audio since James Marsters is fantastic. But the stories are exciting, the battles life and death, and the compassion is fierce. Harry takes it all on himself doing the best he can. Great review! I liked Susan until now.
I never cared for Susan, but what she did here. No No No! Thank’s for telling me about the Side Jobs. I was think I should read it before Ghost Story, but you never know if those short stories or novellas need to be read or not. I try to read them in order with the others, but it doesn’t always happen. Glad you enjoyed the review and thank’s for stopping in.
