Also in this series: Valiant, Brawn, Tiger, Obsidian, Shadow, Moon

Numbers is book fourteen in the New Species series by Laurann Dohner.

I like this series, but I was disappointed that we don’t get one full length novel. We have two stories on two different New Species in Numbers. They are quick and emotional.

140

Morn doesn’t believe taking a human female will help him heal.

This story tug’s at your heart strings. The emotional turmoil is vivid and, we as the reader, can’t help but empathize and get caught up in their sizzling chemistry. Dana meets Mourn when she visits Homeland. Both her and Mourn have lost someone in their past and so, they are hesitant about beginning a relationship. There is plenty of chemistry and emotion.

927

Hero comes face to face with his past.

This story tug’s at your heart too. What Candi and Hero went through in their past was heartbreaking. Candi doesn’t know that Hero is alive and it’s the same for Hero. She wants revenge for the male she lost and her only hope is reaching Homeland, but once she does her world is changed. There is major uproar and quite a bit of tension and emotional distress between Candi and Hero before they resolve their relationship.

Numbers is a nice edition. Though I prefer the full length novel. I still enjoyed coming back to the New Species world.

About Laurann Dohner

NY Times and USA Today Bestselling Author

I’m a full time wife, mother, and author. I’ve been lucky enough to have spent over three decades with the love of my life and look forward to many, many more years with Mr. Laurann. I’m addicted to iced coffee, the occasional candy bar (or two), and trying to get at least five hours of sleep at night.

I love to write all kinds of stories. I think the best part about writing is the fact that real life is always uncertain, always tossing things at us that we have no control over, but when writing you can make sure there’s always a happy ending. I love that about being an author. My favorite part is when I sit down at my computer desk, put on my headphones to listen to loud music to block out everything around me, so I can create worlds in front of me.

  1. Yes, books 1 – 13 are all full length novels. For some reason she deiced to switch and do two in one with them being short stories. Not sure why? I still enjoyed though I feel the full length novels are better. I’ve enjoyed this series. My library has the 1st editors, so I got to read them from my library. Thank’s for visiting.

  2. I know what you mean – I just read a novella and wanted so much more. Sometimes they work but we just want/need more. Glad you are enjoying the series at 14 books in!

    1. Ya sometimes the novellas or short stories need more and other times the work. It was enjoyable, but I felt the romance didn’t develop as well as the full length novels. Still enjoyable. Thank’s for visiting!

  3. ^_^ It was all bad, but I felt things didn’t develop as well as they do in the full length novels. Still enjoyable!

    1. This series is good. I’ve had my ups and downs with it, but I’m going to be re-reading it. The full length novels are better. This was enjoyable. Thank’s for visiting!
