Welcome To January’s Monthly Wrap Up
In real life: The New Year has arrived. I hope everyone had a fun New Years Eve. We ended up ringing in the New Year sick. Kid got RSV and of course it went through the house. As usually the kid gets better fast, but the head cold/RSV has been lingering with use adults. Some days are better than others.
The house renovation is still going on. The kitchen installation started this month. We have a few bad cabinets, so we have to wait on replacements, but they are still working on the installation. It’s looking nice. I can’t wait to see it finished. Then we have the master bathroom and hall bathroom. Most of the title installation is finished. Still much more to do, but it’s looking good. And, last all the flooring has gone in.
On the blog side: I’ve been going back to the old posts and slowly updating them with a feature image. With the reviews I’m adding them to the Ultimate BB plugin so they will look nice and show up in the Archive section on the top bar where you can search reviews by Author, Narrator, or Genre. I’m really enjoy the UBB plugin a lot. The new blog look, name and this plugin has brought back my drive and love of blogging. I was in a slump for reading and bloging these last few years. Now I’ve got that drive back and enjoyment. I’m also using for the 1st time the UBB Reading Challenge Add-On Plugin to showcase the Challenges I picked for 2024. Only downside for this plugin is that it doesn’t add the book to the challenge until I publish the book on the blog. If the book is a re-read and I’ve already reviewed it I can add it to that challenge and it shows, but new reviews/books aren’t showing up asap. Other then that I’m liking the plugin.

I’ve (finally) hit a blogging malaise after 14 years. I’m still doing it, but I’m finding that I’m putting of writing reviews, updating the blog, answering emails. I don’t want to stop, but I just am feeling a bit indifferent about it all.
I feel you on the slump… Mine was/is 5 years now going on, but I’ve got new life for 2024. Will see how long it lasts!
As for reviews. I feel ya. I’ve got a list on Goodreads of books read, but not reviewed yet. I’m trying to write reviews a day or two after I read the book which I did when I first started blogging. So far I’m off to a good start, but I know it won’t last. I’ve come to the realization that it’s ok to not write a full review on every book read. I hope things look up for you.
I’m very happy with the house. We’re now shooting for end of Feb. first of March to complete the project.
You have a lot happening. I also have used the UBB plugin since the start. I learned a little of it when I reviewed for Jennifer on the Book Nympho. yes the challenge only shows up once a review is published and I don’t publish reviews for everything I read. I put a few lines in Goodreads but not always a review.
I’m liking the UBB Plugin. As for the Reading Challenge plugin I wish it added the book even if the review isn’t published. Oh well. Ya, things are moving along with the house and I’m having a good start to reading. Thanks for visiting.
