My name is Larkspur, and I am an Elemental.
My people use the power of the earth to sustain life and defy our enemies. I should be at my father's side as a royal princess. But as a half-breed, bastard child, that isn't going to happen.
In a world of lava and fire, I am about to face my hardest trial yet. Not one of strength, or power, but intrigue and manipulation. However, my tolerance level for anyone outside of my family is at an all-time low, and the queen who rules the Pit expects complete obedience.
As Ash's life is held in the balance, I have just three days to prove his innocence and mine. This place holds more than a scorching heat; new foes, traitors, and creatures from the depths of the lava are all trying to keep us from surviving.
The only question left. . . Can I get us all out without being burned alive?
Welcome to the Pit.

Firestorm is book three in The Elemental series by Shannon Mayer. It’s an action packed adventure. Full of plot lines that keep you engrossed.
Mayer has an amazing writing style that is irresistible to this adrenaline junkie. Firestorm ran hotter than lava. The treachery and romantic elements will leave you scorched.
Larkspur’s evolution is slow to develop, but I feel this is what the author is going for. The Elemental world is a hazardous place with four powerful elemental families vying for dominance. There’s forward momentum on Lark’s magic which leaves you wanting more, but also concerned on how this will impact her.
Ash spent most of the story locked in a cell. This freed up space for Cactus to strut. I don’t know which out of the two I prefer as a match for Lark.
Mayer lured me with her action, hooked me with her heroine, and reeled me in with her secondary characters.
Rated: 4 Stars

Oooh, you got me intrigued with your description of this one and the series.
I’m glad to peek your interest. Happy Reading!
Elementals is a theme I don’t see very often, it at least, not so heavily in the spotlight. I’m intrigued…
I agree Elementals aren’t a theme you usually see in paranormal. Mayer is a good author to try. Thanks for visiting and checking out my review.
