Welcome To August’s Monthly Wrap Up
HAPPY SEPTEMBER!
Well the first two weeks I didn’t get any reading/listening in. The last two weeks I finished an audiobook from the previous month I started and also got the last novel in the Innkeeper Chronicles for the Read-Along done. Now I can work on 2026 Read-Along.
We spent the first two weeks of the month getting ready for school, enjoying our last full week of Tennis, and having family visit for the weekend. Plunder A Pirate’s Life 🏴☠️ is the board game we seem to play every time someone visits. It’s become a favorite of our guests. School started on Thursday Aug. 14th. My kid is now an 8th Grader. Oh My!
Panda is doing fabulous! She is such a happy dog. We are walking daily after dropping the kid off at school. It’s so nice to be back on a routine. Walking gives me a good chance to get some audiobook listen in.

The second week of August I log into my Rafflecopter Account and get a message saying they are closing down on Oct. 1st. To say the least I am not happy! Read my Randomness: Rafflecopter Closing post about it. I do a lot of giveaways and participate in a lot of hops plus hosting the library love challenge, so to say I needed something and fast for the blog is an understatement. I wanted to find one that is comparable to Rafflecopter and best case Free. I checked out a lot of options and got a few suggestions from you guys: Gleam does offer free and paid, but with free you are limited on options and how many times to use certain options. I did try their paid upgraded service, but ended up refunding. I also checked out GT Giveaway Tools. It’s FREE and you can set up as many options as you like. I’m going to try it out for the 2025 Autumn Semester Library Love Review Link Up + Giveaway. I did buy the Unlimited Lifetime License for RafflePress. It’s a plugin for the blog. It’s currently running on the 2025 Old School Giveaway Hop. I got some feed back from a few of you on the RafflePress Plugin; Thank You.
AYSO Soccer has started. The kid is in U16 now and we do a lot more traveling for the games and longer practices. Early in the month I went to buy him all new soccer gear; socks, shoes, and shine guards. WOW he’s a size 9 and the shoes cost as much as signing him up did for AYSO. We love soccer season and won our first game.
I made some changes to the backyard this month. We removed lots of plants in the stone bed and planted all new plus added a sprayer system. It looks great! We love it and I’m looking forward to butterflies, hummingbirds, and more visiting. The last weekend of the month we had more family visit and we took them to the Art & Wine Festival our town hosts each year. Lots and lots of fun was had.

Last, as a family we’ve been playing Valheim on steam. “A brutal exploration and survival game for 1-10 players, set in a procedurally-generated purgatory inspired by Viking culture. Battle, build, and conquer your way to a saga worthy of Odin’s patronage!”

Congratulations to these winners from this month!

Hi Lisa, Thanks for visiting. It was a busy August and the next few months will be busy, but in a good way. Have a wonderful weekend!
Yes… the cost of sporting equipment seems to skyrocket as kids get older. And they go through it so quickly! Good luck to the soccer team! Your yard looks great. I don’t know where the month went. I can’t even recall what we did earlier in the month, but it ended with moving the kids back to school. Happy Fall!
I hope the move back to school went well. Ya, sporting equipment goes way up as the kids get older. At least my kid is into one sport. We’re busy this Fall with Soccer. It’s great! Thanks for visiting, Jen!
I love seeing all the fun activities with the family and guest pirate game, the steam viking game, soccer, and pretty yard work. Way to go getting in audiobook and walking time. Crazy how fast the kiddoes grow up (and just plain grow especially their feet, LOL)
Have a great September, Angela!
It was a really nice month. Lots of family visits and board games. It amazes me how fast my kid is growing. It feels like yesterday he was little and I could pick him up. ^_^ Thanks for always visiting Sophia.
Sounds like a nicely wrapped up month. My kids start school on Thursday.. so just trying to savor the last few days we have left.
Feels late for school to start in September ^_^. Enjoy those last few days. Thanks Hena for visiting.
It’s a comfortable month with lots of fun activities. 8th grade he’s growing up so fast. I’m glad you are doing the Read-along with us but you could wait until I announce the 2026 before starting to read. lol
My plan is to start later this month. I first have a TBR book I want to read. My schedule is going to be busy the next 2 months and my reading time is going to rally slow down, so I’m trying to plan a little ahead. Thanks for visiting!
