Nelle Zhao is a loner, born and bred. Her own company is plenty, and her thoughts are certainly way more interesting than the tedium of reality. But she's also fiercely loyal—to her honey badger teammates and their mission, and now to the three gorgeous big tiger shifters known as the Malone brothers. Especially Keane, who doesn't know how to accept a friendly paw. But Nelle excels at helping! And at ignoring other people's irrational demands, such as doing it all alone. Keane, poor pretty kitty, doesn't understand the kind of assistance a shit-starting honey badger like Nelle can truly offer . . .

Keane knows two things—he doesn't like other people, and he is going to take down the de Medicis' human trafficking ring. Alone, as in by himself. It's safer that way. But the truth is the de Medicis are a seriously evil coalition of male lion shifters who are not only snatching innocent humans for fun and profit, but who also killed his father. And their combined power means that Keane's going to have to let long-legged, jet-setting Nelle join the fight. And getting close to Nelle is suddenly bringing out his roar . . .

Contains mature themes.

To Kill a Badger is book six in the Honey Badger Chronicles by Shelly Laurenston and narrated by Charlotte Kane.

I adore the crazy kooky antiques of Shelly Laurenston’s characters. Whenever I pick up one of her books I know I’m in for a silly, ridiculous, and feel good time. The characters are so over the top and out of control. I love this aspect of Laurenston’s writing.

The Honey Badger Chronicles series started with Charlie, Stevie and Max, but has steadily progressed to their team mates. You could read this as a stand-alone, but I highly recommend reading in order for there is an overall story ARC that progresses throughout the series and all the previous characters play roles in each novel.

This time it’s Nelle’s turn to find her mate. Nelle and Keane work well together. I enjoy the couples in this series and how they end up together. The storyline is intriguing and captivating. The battle that has been building in the series is finally here.

While we should focus on Nelle and Keane, their story gets buried under all the other plotlines. Many previous characters make cameos from old favorites, like Dee-Ann Smith and Blayne from the Pride series to all the previous couples in the Honey Badger series. At times all the characters in the story felt like a distraction. It can become overwhelming, but also it’s enjoyable to see all these old characters.

To Kill a Badger is another delightful listen. The humor, fast-pace, and personality of the characters are exactly why I keep coming back to this series.

Audio: Charlotte Kane delivers another marvelous performance. She has narrated both the Pride and Honey Badger Chronicles series’ and knows these characters inside and out. Even with the enormous cast, her voices are distinct and perfectly suited to each personality. Her mastery of the snark, voices and keeping up with the fast-pace is awe-inspiring.

    1. I started with the Pride series. Book 1 is ok it’s two stories in one. I think after you get past that it becomes better. Characters from that series pop into the Honey Badger series, but you can start with the Honey Badgers. I really love the crazy characters. Some people don’t but I find it humors and entertaining. Hope you enjoy whenever you try. Thanks for visiting!
