Highland Hellion is book three in the Highland Weddings series by Mary Wine.

This was a fast paced, feisty, fun and thrilling historical romance. I was swept away. Historical romance is not my go to genre, but Highland Hellion was a delight.

Kate is English born, but she was brought to Scotland against her will when she was a child. In the previous book we see her escape a bad situation and be taken into the highland and became part of the MacPherson clan where she is given the freedom to learn to fight and ride like regular men. Now she is all grown up and asked to suddenly do the things women do, which to Kate is boring. They gave her freedom and now they are chaining her. She rebels in a way. I like that she is proud of who she is, she spirited, passionate, and determined. She also admits to her own mistakes and suffers the consequences willing. This is what I gravitated towards and enjoyed.

Rolfe, our hero. He is the son of a Laird and has many responsibilities. Kate saves his life and the lives of his men. He is indebted to her and refuse to leave her in the hands of the enemy clan. Through a chain of events he ends up married to Kate.

Their romance builds slowly into love. Their banter is contagious and theres plenty of laughs.

Overall this was a fun adventure with danger, growth, and romance.

  1. I don’t read much historical romance but I’m glad you enjoyed it.
