Arcane Justice, the third installment of Heather G. Harris’s ‘The Other Detective’ series, is an absolute blast. Narrated brilliantly by Alyse Gibbs, this action-packed adventure is teeming with hidden powers, secret societies, and heartfelt romance. It’s a captivating read that offers so much more than your average urban fantasy.
This novel is a powerhouse of raw emotion. At its center is Stacy, a protagonist defined by her grit and spunk; she is a perfect blend of tough and caring. While her traumatic past has left her with heavy shields, it doesn’t define her—though it certainly makes her “slow burn” romance with Krieg feel earned. Speaking of Krieg, he is the ultimate heart-stealer. Despite his deadly nature, his inner core is remarkably gentle and respectful. He is a constant, supportive presence for Stacy, wearing his heart on his sleeve without ever pushing her boundaries.
Then there is Loki, the snarkiest and funniest “bird” (or Caladrius, if you’re asking him) in the realm. His journey in this installment is particularly moving, as we see him overcome physical frailty to find a new level of strength through his bond with Stacy.

The mystery is gripping, but the true highlight is seeing the romance between Stacy and Krieg finally reach its peak of acceptance. It is a thrilling, heart-wringing ride that proves Heather G. Harris knows exactly which buttons to press to keep readers hooked.
Audio: Heather’s direction is impeccable, and Alyse Gibbs brilliantly brings the author’s vision to life. The character voices are crisp, distinct, and perfectly suited to the cast. I am thoroughly enjoying ‘The Other Detective’ audiobooks and highly recommend this series in any format.
